Dan Forsman

Started playing golf at age 13 after being introduced to the game by his father. Although he was born in Wisconsin, the family moved to the San Francisco area, where he played golf at Los Altos Country Club and in the Northern California junior program. After attending college at Arizona State, he took a job as an assistant professional at Camelback Country Club in Phoenix, Arizona. While there, won some PGA Section events and qualified for the 1982 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach, playing a practice round with Seve Ballesteros. At the end of that year, he went to Q-School and made it through. He steadily improved and earned his first victory in the 1985 Quad Cities Open. In 1986, struck again in the rain-shortened Bay Hill Classic to win by one stroke over Raymond Floyd and Mike Hulbert. With a limited schedule in 1990, won the Shearson Lehman Hutton Open by a three-stroke margin. Played full-time on the PGA Tour between 1983 and 2008. Started 652 events, made 422 cuts, won five times and recorded 64 top-10 finishes. Had earnings of $8.7 million.
On the Champions Tour in 2011 after two consecutive years in which he was top-10 on the money list, fell to 45th in earnings. Much of that drop was attributed to a sore left hip, which troubled him for most of the season. His lone top-10 finish came in July when three consecutive rounds in the 60s led to a T4th finish at the Montreal Championship.
2012 Notes: Battled severe lower-back pain but climbed 20 spots on the money list from 2011, to 25th. Started the year with a two-stroke victory over Jay Don Blake at the Mitsubishi Electric Championship and had two other top-five finishes.
2013 Notes: Had three top-10 performances, the same number as in 2012, over his 25 starts during the year. Had his best showing in more than a year when he posted three straight sub-par rounds to finish T-2nd at the Nature Valley First Tee Open at Pebble Beach. Finished 29th on the money list.
2014 Notes: After a pair of successive seasons finishing in the top 30, fell all the way to 58th on the money list and failed to record a top-10 finish for the first time in his seven-year Champions Tour career. His best finish T12th in his first start at Mitsubishi Electric. Had just three other finishes in the top 20, including a T-16th at The Senior Open Championship in Wales.
2015 Notes: Played in just 17 events and none after the Nature Valley First Tee Open at Pebble Beach due to a right-shoulder injury which he suffered in a fall at home. Underwent surgery in November to repair a rotator cuff tear as well as having a bicep reattachment. Teamed with Mike Reid for his best finish of the year, T-10th at the Bass Pro Shops Legends of Golf in April. Was 78th on the money list and 82nd in the Schwab rankings.
2016 Notes: Missed the first couple of months recovering from the right shoulder surgery. Returned to the Champions Tour at the Tucson Conquistadores, finished 80th. In 15 events his best finish was T-22nd at the SAS Championship. Finished 92nd on the money list and Schwab Rankings.
2017 Notes: Played in just 11 events, the fewest since 2008 when he played just 8. His best finish was a T-30th at the Bass Pro Shops Legends of Golf with Mike Reid. Finished T-34th at the Mitsubishi Electric Classic.
2018 Notes: Played in 21 PGA Tour Champions events with 2 top-25 finishes. Was T-22nd with partner Mike Reid at the Bass Pro Shops Legends of Golf. Best individual finish T-13th at the Ally Challenge. Finished 72nd in the Charles Schwab Cup money list.
2019 Notes: T-33rd with partner Mike Reid at the Bass Pro Shops Legends of Golf.
