James Morrison

Won the 2010 Madeira Islands Open in his maiden European Tour season, vindicating the decision he made as a teenager to choose a career in golf over professional cricket. Played on the same England Youth teams as Alastair Cook, Ravi Bopara and Tim Bresnan but switched to golf at the age of 16 and went from an 18 handicapper to scratch in less than a year. The following year, he accepted a scholarship to the University of South Carolina in America. Returned home to play first on the EuroPro Tour and then on the Challenge Tour, having turned professional after the 2006 Qualifying School Final Stage. Finished 18th in the 2009 Challenge Tour Rankings to secure his place in the 2010 Race to Dubai alongside his friend and compatriot Ross McGowan, with whom he grew up in Surrey, England, and ended his debut campaign in 61st place, narrowly missing out on a place in the field at the lucrative season-ending Dubai World Championship presented by DP World.
Comfortably kept his card for three seasons following graduation, but endured a disappointing 2013, finishing 139th in The Race to Dubai. However, he bounced straight back by claiming the 11th card at the Qualifying School, continued to improve in 2014 and won his second title in May 2015, at the Open de Espana. A steady final round 69 gave him a four-shot victory at Real Club de Golf El Prat, making up for five years earlier when he lost out to Alvaro Quiros in a playoff in Seville. Also had a 2nd at the Alstom Open de France which got him a spot in The Open Championship were he finished T-20th. Finished T-17th at the Saltire Energy Paul Lawrie Match Play, moving to 85th in the Official World Golf Ranking. Just 14 weeks earlier before his Open de Espana win was 290th in the rankings and at the start of the year was 361st in the rankings. Finished 2015 27th in the Race to Dubai standings.
2016 Notes: Played in 27 European Tour events making 20 cuts. Had 4 top-ten finishes, 3rd at the Aberdeen Asset Management Paul Lawrie Match Play. In his Open de Espana defense, finished T-4th. Was T-10th at the Irish Open and 4th again at the Lyoness Open. Finished 65th in the Race to Dubai.
2017 Notes: Played in 26 European Tour events making 16 cuts. Had 3 top-ten finishes, T-4th at the Joburg Open, T-5th at the D+D Real Czech Masters and T-6th at the Tshwane Open. Was 102nd in the Race to Dubai.
2018 Notes: Started the year with a T-10th finish at the UBS Hong Kong Open and added a T-6th at the Joburg Open.
