Claimed his maiden European Tour title in the 2012 Avantha Masters in New Delhi, India. Took up Affiliate Membership at the start of 2011 and the decision paid dividends as he had top tens in the Africa Open, Ballantine's Championship, BMW Italian Open presented by CartaSi and the Alfred Dunhill Championship to finish 92nd in The Race to Dubai. Continued his fine record in the Africa Open, having come third the year before. Enjoyed a hugely successful amateur career, winning six major amateur tournaments in his native South Africa in 2005 and 2006, and in the latter year having 13 top ten finishes. Was runner-up in the Berkshire Trophy in England and was named the Golf Digest Amateur of the Year in 2006.
Plays a full time schedule in both South Africa and the European Tour.
2014 Notes: Played in 28 European Tour events making 14 cuts. Best finish T-2nd South African Open, it was his only top-ten of the year. Finished the year 86th in the Race to Dubai with euro309,036. Played 11 events on the Sunshine Tour and was 13th on the order of merit and he won at The Golden Pilsener Zimbabwe Open.
2015 Notes: Played in 31 European Tour events making 11 cuts. Best finish was T-16th in the Alfred Dunhill Championship. Was 141st in the Race to Dubai with euro142,657. Played in 9 events on the Sunshine Tour order of merit and was 43rd on the order of merit.
2016 Notes: Played in 15 European Tour events with a best finish of T-15th in the Hero Indian Open and the Dunhill Links Championship. Was 141st in the Race to Dubai with euro155,663. Played in 16 Sunshine Tour events and was 25th in the order of merit. His best finish of the year came in South Africa, was T-5th in the Sun City Challenge. Best finish of the year was 2nd on the Asian Tour Resorts World Manila Masters
2017 Notes: Started the year with a T-10th at the UBS Hong Kong Open. Was T-2nd at the SMBC Singapore Open, which got him his exemption into the Open Championship. Also played in Asia and Japan Tours in these events, (Singapore was the first), T-50th at the Myanmar Open, missed cut at the Maybank Championship, T-64th Dimension Data Pro-am (South Africa), T-36th Hanger Heritage, T-9th in the Queen's Cup and 45th Investec Royal Swazi Open & T-7th Mopani Redpath Zambia Open (both in South Africa). At the Lyoness Open finished T-2nd a shot back of winner Dylan Frittelli. It was his best finish on the European Tour since his 2014 South African Open.
