Kyle Stanley

Stanley enjoyed a good amateur career in the Pacific Northwest. Won four AJGA tournaments and was named Washington Junior Golf Association Player of the Year. Helped his Bellarmine Prep team win state championships in his junior and senior years, finishing second overall in both tournaments. Three-time first-team All-ACC and two-time first-team All-America at Clemson. The top player for the Tigers for three years. Runner-up in 2007 and '09 at the NCAA Championship, losing by two shots to USC's Jamie Lovemark in 2007 and by two to North Carolina State's Matt Hill in 2009. Had 20 top-10 and 28 top-20 finishes in his 32 career starts at Clemson. Set 18 freshman records at Clemson. Only player in Clemson history to make All-America and win ACC Player of the Year as a freshman. Finished third at the ACC Championship and NCAA East Regional, and was runner-up at the NCAA Championship. The two-time winner of the Southern Amateur was a member of the 2007 U.S. Walker Cup team.
Turned professional after finishing 53rd at the U.S. Open. Was T-19th the following week in his first professional start, the Travelers Championship. Made the cut in four of five PGA Tour starts in 2009 and was one for two on the Korn Ferry Tour.
2010 Korn Ferry Tour Summary: Tournaments Entered - 26; In Money - 17; Top-10 Finishes - 6; Scoring Average 70.30 (Rank 52nd); Money - $168,6709 (Rank 35th); Best Finish - T-4th, Melwood Prince George's County Open. Ended his year with a T-9th finish at PGA Tour Q-School to earn his 2011 PGA Tour card.
2011 Notes: Got his rookie year off to a solid start, netting four top-30 finishes in his first seven starts en route to four top-10s and nine top-25s. Ranked 34th in the FedExCup standings and 55th on the money list.
2012 Notes: Picked up his first career PGA Tour victory at the Waste Management Phoenix Open a week after surrendering a six-shot advantage in the final round of the Farmers Insurance Open. Lost to Brandt Snedeker at the Farmers Insurance Open on the second playoff hole (No. 16) with a bogey 4. He came from eight shots back in the victory, the third-largest comeback in the history of the PGA Tour. Finished a career-best 31st in the FedExCup standings, missing qualifying for the Tour Championship by one shot at the BMW Championship. Also finished a career-best 32nd on the money list.
2013 Notes: Ended the season 77th in the FedExCup standings. Season highlighted by 3rd-place finishes at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans and the Memorial. Also had another top-10, a T-6th at the Wells Fargo Championship.
2014 Notes: Finished the season 158th in the FedExCup standings, marking the first time in four seasons as a PGA Tour member that he failed to advance at least to the Deutsche Bank Championship field. His season included 16 made cuts in 28 starts, with his lone top-10 finish coming at the Barracuda Championship under the Modified Stableford scoring format. Point totals of 5-11-6-12 resulted in a T-8th with three others. Played in all four Korn Ferry Tour Finals events, missing the cut at the Korn Ferry Tour Championship. Best finish was a T-27th at the Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship.
2015 Notes: After advancing to the FedExCup Playoffs in his first three seasons on the PGA Tour, missed postseason action for the second consecutive year, finishing 181st in the FedExCup standings. Made the cut in eight of 12 starts, with three top-25 finishes. Failed to record a top-10 performance for the first time since joining the Tour in 2011, with a T-18th at the John Deere Classic his best outing. Played six Korn Ferry Tour Regular Season events, with a T-11th at the Rex Hospital Open in May and a T-9th at the WinCo Foods Portland Open in late-August as his best showings. Four rounds in the 60s at the Korn Ferry Tour Championship led to a T-5th at TPC Sawgrass and a 22nd position in the final priority-ranking order. Missed the cut at the third tournament, the Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship in Columbus, Ohio. In the Korn Ferry Tour Finals, opened with a T-16th at the Hotel Fitness Championship, which he followed up with a T-7th at the Small Business Championship. Regained his PGA Tour card with a T-5th finish at the Korn Ferry Tour Championship.
2016 Notes: For the 2nd consecutive season, failed to post a top-10, but advanced to the FedExCup Playoffs for the first time since 2013 on the strength of five top-25s. His 18 made cuts marked the second-highest total of his career (22 in 2011). Entered the final event of the season, the Wyndham Championship, at No. 127. Posted four rounds in the 60s to finish T-14th and move to 116th in the standings. Ended his season at 116th after a T-74th at The Barclays.
2017 Notes: Was T-7th at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, T-8th at the Shell Houston Open and T-4th at The Players Championship. The last result came after giving up the 54-hole lead with a 75 in the final round to fall four shots behind winner Si Woo Kim. After opening with a first-round 74 at The Memorial, added 67-71-68 to finish T-6th, five shots behind winner Jason Dufner. Shot 67-66 over the weekend at the Quicken Loans National and found himself tied after 72 holes with Charles Howell III, who shot identical scores in the last two rounds. Stanley won the playoff with a par at the first extra hole. Advanced to each of the four FedExCup Playoffs events for the first time, where he ended his season ranked a career-best 24th in the FedExCup standings. Made it to the Tour Championship for the first time in his career. Opened with a 64 to lead by two. A pair of 73s and an even-par 70 in the third round led to a T-20th finish.
2018 Notes: Played 26 events on the PGA Tour, making 20 cuts with five top-10 finishes. Was 27 in the FedExCup standings. Finished T-5th at the WGC-HSBC Championship. At the WGC-Dell Match Play Championship, won three of his final five holes (Nos. 14, 16 and 17) to defeat Sergio Garcia, 3 and 1, in the round of 16. Was defeated by Justin Thomas in the quarterfinals, 2 and 1. Lost in the playoff that Bryson DeChambeau won at The Memorial. Stanley made four consecutive birdies at holes 14 through 17, but bogeyed the 18th hole to drop him into the three-man playoff. Was eliminated at the first extra hole. Finished runner-up again at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational, four shots behind winner Justin Thomas
2019 Notes: Shot a final-round 68 to finish T-8th at the Wells Fargo Championship. This was his first top-ten since his runner-up in the 2018 WGC-Bridgestone.
