Steve LeBrun

Shot 71-69 at the Columbus, Ohio, sectional to qualify for his first U.S. Open.
Steve LeBrun didn't always want to be a professional golfer. When he was young, people were much more likely to see him with a baseball bat and ball than a golf club. It wasn't until Steve's father, Alan, took him golfing at the age of 10 that he found a natural ability and love for the game of golf. Steve continued playing baseball, but golf continued to intrigue him. When Steve entered high school in 1992, baseball and golf were played at the same time of year so he had to choose between the two. He chose golf.
In 1996, LeBrun signed a full golf scholarship to Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Fla., where he would continue to grow as a golfer and earn a Bachelor's Degree in Communications. Steve won six college tournaments and with a stroke average of 71.80 his senior year (21st in the nation) was named TAAC Conference Player of the Year.
After graduating college in 2000, Steve started his professional career on the Montgomery Sports Tour and then the Hooters Tour. Since 2004, he has maintained exempt status on the Nationwide Tour, but an injury requiring surgery in 2006 forced him out of competition and into rehab for the 2007-2008 seasons. Steve played in his first event eight months after surgery with the help of then coach, Duke Donahue, and after a solid 2008 season, Steve made it to PGA Tour Qualifying School finals and rejoined the Nationwide Tour in 2009. After an unsuccessful 2009 season, Steve contacted highly recommended local teaching pro, Jeff Leishman (Jupiter Dunes Golf Course). They have been working together successfully since December 2009. LeBrun successfully made it through all three stages of PGA Tour Q-School in 2011 and earned full playing status on the Nationwide Tour for the 2012 season.
