Steven Bowditch

Bowditch, who was born in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia, had a distinguished amateur career, which included medalist honors at the 2001 Australian Amateur. He was the runner-up at the 2000 World Junior Championships and was paired with Greg Norman in the final round of the 2000 Australian Open as a 17-year-old. Finished T-7th in that event and was the top amateur in the field.
2005 Notes: Made the cut in 14 of 21 starts on the Web.com Tour, with six top-10 finishes. His year was highlighted by a season-opening victory at the Jacob's Creek Open Championship, as he became the second-youngest winner in the tour?s history at 21 years, 8 months, 12 days. He lost the following week in a playoff to Peter O'Malley. He had charged up the leader board Sunday with a course-record-tying 63 to finish at 14-under par, nearly two hours in front of the final group, then waited in the clubhouse as O'Malley missed a short putt on the 72nd hole, forcing the playoff. At the Price Cutter Charity Championship, an 8-under-par 64 in the final round led to a runner-up finish to Roger Tambellini. Finished the year 4th on the Web.com money list, earning $333,329 and securing his tour card for 2006. Winner of the 2004 Queensland Open on the Von Nida Tour in Australia. Was T-3rd at the 2004 Australian Open and T-4th at the MasterCard Australian Masters. Won the 2001 Australian Strokeplay.
2006 Notes: As a rookie on the PGA Tour, Bowditch made only two cuts in 22 starts, finishing 256th on the money list with earnings of $11,160.
2007 Notes: Was granted a Minor Medical Exemption after his 2006 PGA Tour season was limited to 22 events. Coupled with 2006 winnings of $11,160, had five events to earn $649,738, equaling 125th from 2006. Was unsuccessful in that attempt, however, and eventually played the Web.com Tour where he made nine cuts in 23 appearances. Among his four top-25s was a season-best T-5th at the Nationwide Children's Hospital Invitational. Finished the year 99th on the money list, with $56,173. Had fully-exempt status on the Web.com Tour by virtue of his finish at the 2006 PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament.
2008 Notes: Made two cuts in 16 Web.com Tour starts, with a best finish of T-45th at the Price Cutter Charity Championship. Finished 236th on the money list. Played in two European Tour events, missing both cuts.
2009 Notes: Made the cut in seven of 20 starts on the Web.com Tour. Earned his first top-10 in more than two years with a 6th-place finish at the Mexico Open. Previous top-10 was a T-5th at the 2007 Nationwide Children's Hospital Invitational. Earned more money in Mexico than he had in his previous 42 starts on tour. Had a second top-10 in three weeks with a T-9th at the Albertsons Boise Open.
2010 Notes: Entered 22 Web.com Tour events and had three top-10 finishes. Finished the year 17th on the money list to earn a return trip to the PGA Tour. Earned his second career title at the Soboba Golf Classic in California in early October. Moved into the lead with an 8-under-par 63 in the third round. On Sunday, he birdied the first hole and made eagle on the sixth en route to a comfortable lead and was never seriously challenged. Posted a 3-under 68 to finish at 19 under par, three better than Daniel Summerhays. A first-place check for $180,000 moved him from 76th to 11th on the money list. Dating back to the end of the 2005 season, Bowditch had earned only $173,970 in his previous 76 starts on Tour. Began the final round of the Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open in 2nd, a shot behind Roberto Castro. Trailing by one shot on the 18th tee in the final round and needing a birdie to force a playoff, he hit his tee shot out of bounds. Ended up making a double bogey but still finished T-4th, his best Tour performance since a T-2nd at the 2005 Price Cutter Charity Championship.
2011 Notes: Played 28 PGA Tour events, collecting one top-10 finish. In his 32nd career PGA Tour start, he posted his first-career top-10 finish with a T-9th at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Previous best effort was T-34th at the Sony Open in Hawaii a month earlier. Broke his hand while slamming his car door after the second round at the McGladrey Classic. Despite the injury, he played the following week at the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Classic to try and secure a spot within the top 125 on the money list. Opened with a 5-under 67 but couldn?t maintain the pace, finishing T-16th and finishing 132nd on the earnings list. Went back to Q-School and finished T-38th.
2012 Notes: Played a limited schedule and in 18 events, made just five cuts, earning $206,768 and finishing 185th on the money list. Best showing of the season came in his second start, finishing T-15th at the AT&T Pebble Pro-Am. Had to return to Q-School and finished T-10th at the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament to regain his Tour card for 2013.
2013 Notes: Made 11 of 22 PGA Tour cuts and finished 124th in the FedEx Cup standings. Posted four rounds in the 60s en route to a career-best T-2nd finish at the Greenbrier Classic. Finished two strokes behind tournament winner Jonas Blixt.
2014 Notes: On his 110th career PGA Tour start, shot 69-67-68-76 to win the Valero Texas Open by a shot. The 76 was the highest final-round score by a winner since Vijay Singh posted the same number at the 2004 PGA Championship. It was his only top-10 result of the season. Only other top-15 performance came at the John Deere Classic in July, where he finished T-11th. He ended the year 59th in the FedEx Cup rankings and 57th on the money list.
2015 Notes: Opened the year with a runner-up finish at the Frys.com Open, two shots behind champion Sang-Moon Bae. The runner-up finish came in his fourth start at the event, one year after having to withdraw after the first round with a hip injury. He jumped out to an opening-round lead at the AT&T Byron Nelson with an 8-under-par 62 (the low-opening round by a winner this season) en route to his second PGA Tour victory (2014 Valero Texas Open). With a tournament-record 18-under?par 259 total, finished four shots ahead of Charley Hoffman, Jimmy Walker and Scott Pinckney. Held at least a share of the lead after each round en route to becoming just the seventh player (eight times) to carry the opening-round lead on to victory at the AT&T Byron Nelson. The Australian native, and current Flower Mound, Texas, resident, won at the TPC Four Seasons Resort, site of his 2011 wedding to Amanda Yarussi, a former television producer in Dallas. Victory came in his 146th start at age 31 years, 11 months, 23 days. Enjoyed his finest season as he finished 20th in the FedEx Cup race and 23rd on the money list with $3,075,410. Went 1-2-0 in his three Presidents Cup matches, it was the first time he played in that event.
2016 Notes: Earned his first top-10 with a T-10th finish at Hyundai Tournament of Champions.
