Oliver Bekker

the 2013 Telkom PGA Pro-Am and the 2016 Sun City Challenge. He won three times in 2017, the Zambia Sugar Open, the Lombard Insurance Classic, and the Sun Wild Coast Sun Challenge. Since joining the Sunshine Tour in 2008, his best year was in 2017/18 when he finished 4th on the Sunshine Tour order of merit. Also finished 4th in the Order of Merit in 2021/22.
He married Alra Bekker who was one time a pro golfer and member of the PGA of South Africa. In October of 2017 she started a coffee store in Stellenbosch. The couple have two children, a twin son and daughter.
Bekker has dabbled on playing in Europe most of his career. He played full-time on the European Challenge Tour in2013, '15, '18 and then had his best year in 2021. Won the 2017/18 Commissioner's Award and the Players' Player of the Year Award on the Sunshine Tour. He played on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2019, in 18 events he made 10 cuts with two top-tens, T-9th at the LECOM Health Challenge and T-10th at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail Championship. Finished the season at 105th on the Regular Season points list.
In 2021 he played in 20 Challenge Tour events making 16 cuts with six top-ten finishes. Earned promotion to the DP World Tour for 2022 after finishing 7th on the season-long Road to Mallorca Rankings. On that tour finished runner-up twice at the Limpopo Championship and British Challenge. He was also third twice at the Dimension Data Pro-Am and the Euram Bank Open. He ended the year 2nd at the SA Open Championship, a shot back of winner Daniel van Tonder.
2022 Notes: Playing full time on the European Tour he went on a streak that in a span of 8 events was in the top-11 seven times. He best finish was a 2nd at the Catalunya Championship. He finished tied with Adri Arnaus and went into a playoff that lasted six holes before he made a bogey to give the title to Arnaus. Finished T-2nd at the Soudal Open, three shots back of winner Sam Horsfield.
