DraftKings picks for the week

So how did I last week?
All I can say is I was a winner, played in five European events and was shut-out, but my cost was only $22. I did have Dustin Johnson, as just about everybody else had so his runner-up finish probably just kept me alive. I was disappointed in the other five picks, first James Morrison and Thomas Pieters missed the cut. When you have two missed cuts, specially in a small field event like Abu Dhabi was is bad. What disappointed me was the poor play on Sunday by Ian Poulter (shot 74 to finish T-39th), Peter Uihlein (who on the weekend had 76-74 to finish T-49th) and Byeong-Hun An. He was really frustrating because he was leading through the 11th hole and then hit two in the water at 12, made a quad and just like that went on to finish T-13th. So I didn’t win anything.
As for the PGA Tour I was in 5 games at a cost of $51 and thanks to two of the games won $80 to squeak out a profit of $7 (hey it’s a profit, how did you do?). Problem was in three of the four games I was within 3 points of making a check, so it was frustrating. As for my six picks, only one missed the cut and it was a big disappointed in seeing Jamie Lovemark play bad. The big surprise was Chez Reavie, who finished T-12th, Bill Haas who finished T-17th and Geoff Ogilvy, who was among the leaders on the final day but shot 74 to finish T-25th. By last two picks, Luke List shot 73 on the final round to finish T-41st and Smylie Kaufman shot 74 in the final round to finish T-72nd. So it was a week that could of been a lot better for the poor final round play.

So here is a quick look at my picks. Sorry but it’s late on Tuesday and I am driving to Florida in a couple of hourse to escape the cold of Washington D.C. (I hope).
So here are by picks for the PGA Tour, Farmers Insurance. My first question, how many of you picked Tiger Woods? At $7,900 he was a temptation, but frankly even with his great finishes at Torrey Pines I think a top-ten would be a very good finish and I think the odds on that are pretty great. Think he will make the cut and possibly getting a top-25, but not willing to risk $7,900.
Frankly I did very well with my picks because I was able to take Jason Day (at $11,400) and Dustin Johnson (at $11,100). This usually doesn’t work because your left with just $27,500 and normally you can’t get four good players at that price. But I was able to do it thanks to some really low prices on some great players. First, I am not a big Charles Howell III fan, but at $7,300 I will root hard for him. He has a good record in this event, in 14 starts he has 6 top-10s including a T-5th in 2015. But I like how well he has played of late, T-12th at CareerBuilder, T-8th at Sony, T-13th at the RSM Classic and T-7th in the OHL Classic at Mayakoba.  Of course I am not looking for him to win, finish 2nd or finish 3rd but he could get me a top-5 or top-10 finish. My next great steals was Ryo Ishikawa and Scott Stallings, both at $6,800 and both with good records. Stallings has won this event and finished runner-up, and is playing ok this year so he is a steal. Ishikawa finished T-7th in this event in 2014 and I still like the way he played in November and December. Despite cooling down I think that he could get it going for this week. My last pick was Martin Laird, who at $6,500 is a steal. In his last two starts at Torrey he finished T-8th last year and T-7th in 2015 so that along with his T-9th finish last week at the CareerBuilder give me a lot of confidence, specially in double up games.

Here is my European Tour picks at the Qatar Masters.
First, this event is a bit of a disaster, the field isn’t that good and it was hard to get six good players. So the Golden rule, if you can’t match up six good players, keep your money in your pocket. So here is how I picked.
I like by top-three picks of Alex Noren (at $10,900), Rafael Cabrera-Bello (at $10,300) and George Coetzee (at $8,200). After that I was holding for dear life taking Ricardo Gouvela (at $7,400), Sam Brazel (at $6,700) and David Drysdale (at $6,400). These are bandage choices in which I am hoping they make the cut and get me a lot of points over the weekend.

So that (My wife has thrown the two dogs in the back of the Van and calling for us to leave for Florida) is the reason it’s best not to give my thoughts on the picks, again if you don’t feel well, bet low.

So who are your DraftKings top-six this week?
