DrafKings Picks for the week

Sorry am late, but have had problems with DraftKings in getting the game through. Many of you that have played our game have gotten invitations from DraftKings to play our game, when I did the game yesterday for some technical reason the emails never went out. Took 24 hours of emails to DraftKings before they resolved the issue this morning. Hopefully we will be able to get a full team of 200 players, as of noon when I finished this we were at 120 entries
So please joing our game of the week on draftkings:

We are looking at 200 player field. It cost the same $5 and will pay off the top-20 players. The winner will get $135, 2nd $108, 3rd $81. Those between 16th and 20th will get $18. Here is the invite and a link to get into the game, hope you join us. As for last week at the Masters congratulations to chefdaddy84 for winning with the picks of Sergio Garcia (Win), Justin Rose (2nd), Thomas Pieters (T-4th), Paul Casey (6th), Hideki Matsuyama (T-11th) and Jason Dufner (T-33rd). I know that several people had just Justin Rose and the playoff cost them a bit, guess that is the hazards of playing the game.

So how did I do last week?
What a mess with Dustin Johnson getting hurt. I would say that about 90% of the people change, I know that I changed by team, took Rory McIlory instead of Johnson and with the remaining money was able to trade Lee Westwood for Jon Rahm. Yes Rahm was a good choice but my shooting 73-75 over the weekend dropped back to T-27th. I would of been better off sticking with Westwood who despite shooting a final round 74 still finished T-18th so I would of been better off with him, oh well. Oh, did anybody play the weekend game on DraftKings? I found it hard to do because you are just looking for the player who will make the most eagles and birdies over the course of the last 36 holes. Wish that they would add up the 36 hole scores and give out points for those that play the best over the last 36 holes, oh well. Another thing, FanDuel had there game and I played with it. Some like it, you pick 8 guys but four of them are for the first 36 holes and the second four are for the final 36 holes. Sorry this game is not for me, if I pick players I don’t want to have to root for them for 36 holes and then root against them for the final 36 holes. Ok, so how did I do last week in all my games? I won $46 dollars, unfortunately since I had Justin Rose and not Sergio Garcia, the playoff cost me about $60 dollars, so with my winnings of $46 dollars I was still in the hole for $120 since I wagered $166 for the week. Oh, here is how my team went: Justin Rose (2nd), Paul Casey (6th), Rory McIlroy (T-7th), Jon Rahm (T-27th), Ross Fisher (T-41st) and my dog pick of the week, Tommy Fleetwood missed the cut. Because of that it cost me a lot not having a player collecting points over the weekend.

Picks for the RBC Heritage
I will be fast since I am late in this. First of all not many marquee names in the field, the leading players are Matt Kuchar at $11,500, Russell Henley at $10,700, Brandt Snedeker at $10,500 and defending champion Branden Grace at $10,000. Have to say that Kuchar had the best record so at $11,500 I took him. I then went for players that hit lot’s of fairways and greens along with being a good scrambler, along with having a good record at Hilton Head. So I came up with Pat Perez next at $8,100, followed by Russell Knox at $8,000, then Luke Donald at $7,800 and then Jim Furyk at $7,900 and then Zac Blair at $6,500. Very happy with my team, again the goal is to get all six to play over the weekend.
Matt Kuchar at $11,500
Pat Perez at $8,100
Russell Knox at $8,000
Luke Donald at $7,800
Jim Furyk at $7,900
Zac Blair at $6,500

The Europeans are back in Morroco
Yes it’s time to pick for a European Tour stop. It’s been almost a month since the Hero Indian Open so it was a bit hard to see who is playing good right now. Basically only one person from the Masters bothered to make the trip to Rabat (Jeughun Wang) and the field is loaded with people that I didn’t know, still I found some gems. First the leading contenders, Joost Luiten at $12,000, then Dean Burmester at $11,700 followed by Jeughun Wang at $11,500, Brandon Stone at 10,800 and Jordan L. Smith at $10,400. I did take Dean Burmester at $11,700 because he has five top-20 finishes in his last six starts. He hasn’t played in five weeks but that was a win at the Tshwane Open. Also like that he finished T-14th last year in Rabat. My next choice was James Morrison at $8,700. He has not played that great in this event, but has never played it when it was in Rabat so basically this is his first time on the course. But for the year Morrison has played well, his last three starts he finished T-12th in Malaysia, T-4th at the Joburg Open and T-6th at the Tshwane Open. Next up was Matteo Manassero at $8,000, I liked him because he was T-22nd last year and in his last start in Indian was T-3rd. Then I picked Scott Jamieson at $7,200, yes played in this event but never at Rabat, just like Manassero he was T-3rd in his last start at Indian. I was left with two tough choices and had to do a lot of bottom-feeding. Remember all I am looking for is to make the cut from these two. First was Mikko Ilonen at $6,900, he has not played well in 2017 but I am hoping that his good vibes in this event including a T-2nd in 2013 and a T-3rd at Royal Golf Dar EsSalam is enough to help him play well. The same with my next pick of Richie Ramsay at $6,600 he won this event in 2015 but at a different course. He has played at Roayl Golf Dar EsSalam and missed the cut but hoping as a past champion he likes the place and will do well. For the year he has had mixed results, was T-12th at Tshwane Open and made the cut in the three Desert Swing events so hoping for the same this week.
Dean Burmester at $11,700
James Morrison at $8,700
Matteo Manassero at $8,000
Scott Jamieson at $7,200
Mikko Ilonen at $6,900
Richie Ramsay at $6,600

Comments

  1. Does anyone know Dustin Johnson schedule? Is he planning to play before players championship?

  2. John,
Seems that Dustin is doing fine, still a bit sore but no long range damage.
He is planning on playing his original schedule, he was already not going to play until Wells Fargo, doing the same schedule to play Wells Fargo followed by the Players.
The big question mark will be if this injury has screwed up the streak of good play. I think it will, he has to get back into the groove of things again which will be hard.
