Andres Romero

No relation to his famous countryman, Champions Tour player Eduardo. Took up golf at age 8 after being bedridden and on a strict diet with a kidney disease. Started caddieing at The Jockey Club outside Buenos Aires, Argentina before playing. Turned pro at age 16. Coached by his uncle, Miguel Romero. Nickname is Pigu. Was forced to give up his favorite hobby, monocycling, when he turned professional because it was deemed too dangerous. One of the most exciting talents to emerge from Argentina in recent years, he took the world by storm in the summer of 2007 when, just seven days after coming agonizingly close to winning the greatest prize of all, The Open Championship at Carnoustie, he claimed an impressive three- stroke victory in The Deutsche Bank Players' Championship of Europe. In two weeks he climbed from 114th to 29th in the World Ranking. His 3rd-place finish at Carnoustie got him an exemption on the PGA Tour in 2008 and he won the Zurich Classic.
In 2009, he finished 106th on the money list with two top-10 finishes and four top-25 finishes.
In 2010, he finished inside the top 100 in both the FedExCup (69th) and official money list (92nd). Posted a T5th at Northern Trust Open, with four rounds under par, including a first-round 65. Won wire to wire at the 79th Abierto VISA del Centro presentado por OSDE on the Tour de las Americas, beating countryman Angel Cabrera by four strokes.
2011 Notes: He had best FedExCup finish (66th) and money-list finish (70th) since 2008. Made 17 of 22 cuts and recorded a career-best four top-10 finishes.
2012 Notes: Made 12 cuts in the 22 events he played, had a pair of top-tens, runner-up at the Memorial and 3rd at Reno-Tahoe. Finished 106th in the FedExCup standings and 101st on the money list.
2013 Notes: Made 10 of 21 Tour cuts and finished 120th in the final FedExCup standings and 115th on the money list. Best finish was T02nd at Reno-Tahoe Open and T-6th at the Puerto Rico Open.
2014 Notes: Made 16 of 26 cuts, with one top-10, T-5th at the Quicken Loans National at Congressional C.C. Finished 100th in the FedEx Cup standings and 119th on the money list.
2015 Notes: Played in 24 PGA Tour events making 11 cuts with 2 top-ten finishes. Best was T-6th The Greenbrier Classic and T-10th Barbaso Championship. Was 161st in the FedExCup race and 144th on the Monday list. His season was cut short due to a broken wrist at the Barracuda Championship.
2016 Notes: Played in 14 PGA Tour events making 5 cuts. Had one top-ten, T-5th at the Puerto Rico Open. Was 197th in the FedExCup race and 193rd in the money standings. Played in 7 Web.Com Tour events and only made two cuts, best finish T-47th at the Panama Claro Championship.
2017 Notes: Only played in three events, T-18th Sanderson Farms Championship, T-27th RSM Classic and missed cut at Puerto Rico Open.
