Peter Hedblom

Won the 2007 Maybank Malaysian Open, his second European Tour victory to add to his triumph in the 1996 Moroccan Open. Almost defended the title in 2008 but lost in a play-off to Arjun Atwal. It was the third play-off defeat of his career, the previous two occasions both being in 2003, the year he played on a medical exemption after missing a large part of the 2002 season with a broken right leg, sustained playing in an ice hockey match in December 2001.
Introduced to golf at the age of six by his father, Olle, who remains his coach. Was Swedish Boys champion at 16, and the following year he won the 1987 Doral Junior Classic. Won three times on Challenge Tour within 18 months in the early 1990s but it took six visits to the Qualifying School to establish himself on The European Tour at the start of 1994. His sister Marlene is also a tournament professional.
Competed in the U.S. Open in 2005 and 2006, finishing T11th and T21st, respectively. In 2009, won his first title on European soil when he clinched the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles, and was runner-up at the KLM Open after losing in the fourth playoff of his career. In 2010, had two top-ten finishes contributing to his 89th place in The Race to Dubai.
2011 Notes: Only played in 6 events, making cut three times, best finish T32nd in Open de Andalucía de Golf. Went back to Q-school regaining his privileges.
2012 Notes: Played in 27 events, making eight cuts. Best finish T18th BMW PGA Championship he finished 143rd in the Race to Dubai with earnings of 123,013 Euros. Did not win back full European Tour card in Q-school.
