Ryo Ishikawa

Father, Katsumi, was a banker and an avid golfer. Ishikawa started playing the game when he was 7. Known by the nickname "Hanikami Oji" (literally, "Bashful Prince"). In May 2007, Ishikawa became the youngest winner ever of a men's regular tournament on any of the major tours by winning the Munsingwear Open KSB Cup on the Japan Tour at the age 15 years and 8 months. He competed as an amateur and it was Ishikawa's first tour appearance. He finished one shot ahead of Japan's 9th-ranked player at the time, Katsumasa Miyamoto. Ishikawa turned professional in 2008 and won another Japan Tour tournament, the Mynavi ABC Championship.
By the close of 2008, he had become the youngest player to reach the top 100 of the Official World Golf Ranking and also the youngest player to win 100 million yen in a season on the Japan Tour. Won four Japan Tour tournaments in 2009 and three in 2010, finishing first and third on the money list. Shot a 58 in the final round to win The Crowns tournament. Played on the 2009 and 2011 Presidents Cup Teams.

2010 Notes: Shot a final-round, 12-under 58 to win The Crowns title on the Japan Tour. The 58 was the lowest official score shot on a major professional tour. Trailing Shigeki Maruyama by six strokes entering the final round, birdied nine of the first 11 holes and Nos.14-16 at the 6,545-yard Nagoya G.C. in Togo, Japan, to win by five strokes.
2011 Japan PGA Tour Summary: Tournaments entered - 22; in money - 18; Top-10 finishes -7; scoring average - 70.09 (ranked 3rd); Money - yen98,282,603 or $1,282,142, (ranked 3rd); Best finish, 2nd Totoumi Hamamatsu Open and T-2 Vana H Cup KBC Augusta.
2011 Notes: In March, he pledged to donate all of his season earnings to help the survivors of the March 11 earthquake and tsunami that devastated Japan's Pacific coast. He also donated $1,200 for every birdie he made... The youngest player on either Presidents Cup squad, he posted a 2-2-0 record for International Team, including a singles victory over Dustin Johnson.

2012 Notes: 2nd at Puerto Rico Open his career PGA Tour best in his 31st career start. Previous best finish on Tour was T-4 at the 2011 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.
