Peter Malnati

Malnati was born in New Castle, Indiana and grew up in Dandridge, Tennessee. Is a big Kansas City Royals fan and wears a royal blue golf shirt during his final rounds. Threw out the first pitch before a Royals game in 2015 when they played the Chicago White Sox. Played collegiately at the University of Missouri from 2007-10. Was an Academic All-American. Turned professional in 2009.
2010 Notes: He made his Korn Ferry Tour debut not far from his hometown of Dandridge, Tenn., and used a final-round 67 to finish T-16th at the Knoxville News Sentinel Open. He was Monday-qualified to get into the event. He parlayed his strong finish in Knoxville into the following week's Mylan Classic outside Pittsburgh, where he missed the cut. For the next two years, he played in mini-tour events around the country.
2013 Notes: Successfully Monday-qualified at the Air Capital Classic, where he finished T-15th, which earned him a start in the next week's Rex Hospital Open. Went on to post a T-24th in North Carolina. Top-25 effort there gained him another start the following week at the United Leasing Championship, which resulted in a T-9th. Missed the cut the next week at the Utah Championship. He earned a start at the Mylan Classic based on his money-list position and had another solid effort (T-10th) to gain a start at the Price Cutter Charity Championship in Springfield, Mo. Made it five-for-six in cuts made with a T-14th in Springfield. That finish got him another start at the next week's News Sentinel Open in his home state of Tennessee. Entered the final round at Fox Den CC 3 off the lead and promptly bogeyed his first two holes. Righted the ship with eight birdies the rest of the way, including five on his last seven holes, to defeat a quartet of players by a shot. Sank a clutch birdie putt on the 18th hole Sunday to get to 16-under, then watched as Matt Bettencourt and Blayne Barber failed to force a playoff when their 18th-hole birdie efforts missed. Win was worth $99,000 and assured him of a PGA Tour card for the 2013-14 season. That became official when he finished the Regular Season 18th in earnings at the Regular Season-ending Cox Classic. Finished T-8th at the Chiquita Classic near Charlotte in the second Korn Ferry Tour Finals event in September. Started the final round at River Run CC just one shot off the lead but never got out of the blocks, posting a 1-over 73 that left him four shots behind the Andrew Svoboda-Will MacKenzie playoff.
2014 Notes: In his rookie year on the PGA Tour, he played in 18 events, making only 5 cuts. However, his finish was T-14th at the Puerto Rico Open. He was 178th in the FedExCup race and 176th on the money list. In an attempt to regain exempt PGA Tour status for 2015, he missed the cut in the first three Korn Ferry Tour Finals events before posting a T-37th at the season-ending Korn Ferry Tour Championship.
2015 Notes: He finished the Korn Ferry Tour season with 24 starts, one win, five top-10s, 10 top-25s, and 16 cuts made. He was ninth in the final priority ranking order. He earned his second career win with a four-shot win at the Brasil Champions in mid-March, with his wife, Alicia, caddying for him.

2016 Notes: Played in 32 PGA Tour events, making 11 cuts with three top-ten finishes. Was 104th on the FedExCup points list. After missing the cut at the season-opening Frys.com Open and finishing T-56th at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, earned his first career PGA Tour victory in his third start of the season at the Sanderson Farms Championship and in his 22nd career PGA Tour start at the age of 28 years, 4 months and 27 days. He became the 8th player to make the Sanderson Farms Championship, his first career PGA Tour win. Started the calendar year with a T-6th finish at the Hyundai T of C. But since then, in his next 26 starts, he only made the cut in six starts, best T-13th at the Valero Texas Open.
2017 Notes: He played in 29 PGA Tour events, making 17 cuts and one top-25 finish. That was T-18th at the Barbasol Championship. He finished the year 167th on the FedExCup points list.
2018 Notes: Played in 28 PGA Tour events, making 15 cuts with two top-25 finishes. Was 161st on the FedExCup points list. Best finish T-21st at the Barasol Championship. Returned to the Korn Ferry Tour and played in the four Finals events, highlighted by a runner-up at the Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship. Posted a final-round 5-under 66 at the Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship to force a playoff with Robert Streb. He bogeyed the first playoff hole to fall short of victory. He finished T-6th at the DAP Championship, following up his runner-up finish the week before. Secured a return to the PGA Tour for the 2018-19 season with a 5th place finish on the Korn Ferry Tour Finals money list. Was eighth in the final priority-ranking order.
2019 Notes: He played in 26 PGA Tour events, making 18 cuts and one top-ten finish. He was 118th on the FedExCup points list. His best finish was T-9th at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans with partner BIlly Hurley. His best individual finish was T-15th at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. In the FedExCup playoffs, he missed the cut at Northern Trust.
2020 Notes: I played in 21 PGA Tour events, making ten cuts and four top-25 finishes. I was 137th on the FedExCup points list. My best finish was T-11th at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-am.
2021 Notes: Played in 30 PGA Tour events, making 12 cuts with three top-25 finishes. Was 86th on the FedExCup points list. Shot a final-round 63 to finish 2nd at the Sanderson Farms Championship. He teed off 1 hour and 40 minutes before the final pairing on Sunday and held at least a share of the lead from the time he finished until Sergio Garcia birdied the 18th hole in the final pairing. Held a share of the 36-hole lead at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open en route to a T-5th finish, recording back-to-back top-fives for the first time in his career. Second-round 62 came two rounds after recording his first career score of 63 or better (63/R4/Sanderson Farms Championship). Held a share of the lead after the first round 62 at the Sony Open in Hawaii before finishing T-14th. Was T-10th at the Farmers Insurance Open. Ended his season with a T-47th finish at the Northern Trust.
2022 Notes: He played in 31 PGA Tour events, making 20 cuts and two top-10 finishes. I was 101st on the FedExCup points list. Was T-7th at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship and T-9th at the AT&T Byron Nelson. Missed the cut in his final season start at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.
2023 Notes: He played in 35 PGA Tour events, making 14 cuts with two top-10 finishes. He was 116th on the FedExCup points list. Was T-4th at the AT&T Pebble Beach and T-9th at the Rocket Mortgage.
2024 Notes: He was T-9th at the Cognizant Classic. He won the Valspar Championship by two shots over Cameron Young, earning his second PGA Tour title and first since the 2015 Farmers Insurance Open. Victory came in his 259th start at the age of 36 years, 9 months, 11 days. He snapped a winless streak of 8 years, 4 months, 16 days.
