J.J. Henry

Henry turned professional in the summer of 1998, after finishing at TCU, at PGA Tour Q-School, where he finished T-60, earning him a spot on the Nationwide Tour. He played two years on that tour before finishing 13th on the money list in 2000, propelling him to the PGA Tour for 2001. His only win on the Nationwide tour came at the Knoxville Open in 2000. He has played on PGA Tour since 2001 and has finished every year in the top-125, with his best year coming in 2006 when he won the Buick Championship. His good play was rewarded with a spot on the 2006 Ryder Cup team.
He was exposed to high-level golf at a young age from his father, who played in numerous U.S. and British Amateurs. Awarded the 1998 CSWA Bill Lee Award given to the state's Male Athlete of the Year by the Connecticut Sportswriters Association. Among his biggest thrills in golf was his hole-in-one on the 17th hole in the last round of the 1998 WAC Championship to win both the team and individual title. In 2006, founded the Henry House Foundation, which funds tangible projects to promote health care and well being for children in Fort Worth, Texas and southern New England. A golf tournament and gala are held annually to support the foundation.

2000 Web.Com Tour Summary: Tournaments entered - 29; in money - 21; Top-10 finishes -5; scoring average 70.97 (ranked 30th); money $192,287 (ranked 13th); winner Buy.Com Knoxville Open.
2011 Notes: At 76th, he finished inside the top 100 in the FedExCup standings for the fifth consecutive season. At No. 103, he again finished inside the top 125 on the official money list and has done so every year since joining the PGA Tour in 2001.
2012 Notes: After missing his first five cuts of the season, enjoyed a solid year, highlighted by his first Tour win since 2006 at the Reno-Tahoe Open, his second PGA Tour victory. Finished the year 80th in the FedEx Cup race and 65th on the money list.
2013 Notes: Made the cut in 16 of 26 starts during the season, with top-10 finishes at the Travelers Championship (T-5th) and the John Deere Classic (T-7th). Finished No. 106 in the final FedExCup standings and 107th on the money list.
2014 Notes: For the first time since 2001, he failed to finish inside the top 125 and retain fully exempt PGA Tour status. His T-32nd showing at the Wyndham Championship, his last chance to move up in the standings, resulted in a 130th position in the FedExCup standings and a 143rd-place finish on the official money list. Collected four top-25s (Best T-13th, FedEx St. Jude Classic) but also for the first time since joining the PGA Tour in 2001 did not claim a top-10 finish. Made the cut in 10 of his last 11 starts on Tour but only had one finish better than T-32nd, a T-13th at the FedEx St. Jude Classic in June. Posted a T-63rd at the opening Web.com Tour Finals' event, Hotel Fitness Championship. Missed the cut the next week at the Chiquita Classic. Improved his score each day at the third event, the Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship, shooting 74-70-69-67 on the Ohio State University GC's Scarlet Course, leading to a 5th place finish and a check for $40,000 that assured he would return to the PGA Tour in 2014-15.
2015 Notes: Claimed his third career PGA Tour title at the Barracuda Championship when he birdied his 72nd hole to get into a playoff with Kyle Reifers, then on the second playoff hole made a 15 foot eagle from the fridge of the green to win the playoff and get a last minute spot in the PGA Championship. With the win, became the second player to win the Barracuda Championship twice (Vaughn Taylor first did it, in 2004 and 2005). The victory also helped him climb up and get into the FedEx Cup playoffs, he finished 90th in the rankings and 96th on the money list.
2016 Notes: His best finish is T-28th at the Players.
