He was taught by his father, Stefan, who worked as an assistant professional in Hawaii before moving back to San Diego. Although born in La Jolla, California, Xander's family tree encompasses four nationalities. His mother is from Chinese Taipei (but grew up in Japan), and his father is half-French and half-German. His father was an elite athlete in Germany before being hit by a drunk driver in a head-on collision, which ended his dreams of being an Olympic decathlete. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Yes he hasn't won on the PGA Tour in a few years (2019 Sentry TofC to be exact) but he has been a focus each time he teed it up. Oh on the victory front, Schauffele did win the Olympics against a terrific field. This Past Year: 2021 was a strange year, played great in the fall and the west cost swing, in eight of those starts was in the top-ten, five times and was runner-up three times. After that struggled but playe well in the majors, was T-3rd at the Masters and T-7th at the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines. Did get married after the U.S. Open, five weeks later won the Golf Medal at the Olympics. Past Performance Results and StatisticsOPEN CHAMPIONSHIP (last 10 years)

Strengths and Weaknesses of Game: When he joined the tour in 2017 he was a very average putter and lacked the skills of a first-class scrambling game. In 2017 he ranked 138th in Strokes Gained around the green and was 104th in Scrambling. Over the years those stats got better, the next year he was T-113th in SG Around the green and 104th in Scrambling. In 2019 he improved to 40th in SG Around the green and 43rd in Scrambling In 2020 he showed even more improvement, 37th in SG Around the green and 2nd in Scrambling. Did stumble in 2021 was T-81st in Strokes Gained Around the green. As for putting, Xander’s only coach was dad Stefan until college when he got together with Derek Uyeda to work on putting. In Xander’s first year on the PGA Tour in 2017, he was good, T-27th in SG Putting and 10th inputting inside 10 feet. But the next year he slipped to 66th in SG Putting and T-75th in putting inside 10 feet. It wasn’t much better in 2019, he was 46th in SG Putting and T-85th in Putting inside 10 feet. With Uyeda, they worked hard in not only his stroke and ailment, but changes to a multi-material putting shaft and then changing at the U.S. Open at Pebble to a Tuttle Mallet style putter helped, at Pebble in the U.S. Open he ranked 7th in strokes gained putting to help him finish T-3rd. He got better the rest of the year, but in 2020 the work paid off as he was 33rd in SG putting and 18th in putting inside 10 feet. He has shown even more improvement in 2021, he is T-16th in SG Putting and 1st in putting inside 10 feet.
Areas to Work On For his age of 28, he is a very solid player and has very few flaws and problems. He is very consistent, since the start of 2019 he has played in 66 events and only missed six cuts, those in 2021 were the Players Championship and PGA Championship. Best and Worst Courses and Tournaments: At a young age, Xander is getting a reputation as one that does well at tough venues and events. In 18 majors has been in the top ten in half those starts (9). He is good on both Bermuda and Bent greens, he does seem to struggle on Poa greens. The two events he is great at are the Sentry TofC and the Tour Championship in which in 20 rounds, has never been over par in any round. Watch him at the Farmers Insurance Open, has always played poorly but says he has been sick in each of those starts. Have a feeling he could win this year after finishing T-2nd in 2021 and T-7th when the U.S. Open was held at Torrey.
