Lucas Herbert Bio - (C) GOLFstats Inc. 2020

He started playing golf at the age of 3. He has competed around the world, not only as a member of the Australian Tour but has played in China, Canada, and Europe. He played in the 2013 U.S. Junior Amateur as an amateur, losing in the first round. Failed to qualify for match play in the 2014 and '15 U.S. Amateur.

On the Australian Tour, he has never won but finished 2nd at the 2013 Blackburn Heritage Classic, Isuzu Queensland Open, and the NSW Open Championship.

2017 Notes: Was the leader after 36 holes at the Emirates Australian Open, but with rounds of 71-73 over the weekend, finished T-6th. He also was T-6th at the Oates Vic Open and was T-9th at the ISPS Handa World Super 6 Perth.

2018 Notes: Was T-7th in the Australian PGA Championship and 3rd at the ISPS Handa World Super 6 Perth. In that event, Herbert made it to the semifinals and lost to the eventual winner Kiradech Aphibarnrat on the first hole of a shootout. Herbert beat Sam Horsfield in the consolation round to finish third. His T-8th finish at the SMBC Singapore Open was vital because it gave him a spot in the Open Championship at Carnoustie, where he played in the Amateur Championship in 2015. In that event, he shot 75 at Panmure and 72 at Carnoustie to miss the cut. Herbert finished T-3rd at the Rocco Forte Sicilian Open, just a shot back from getting into the playoff.

Herbert was unsuccessful in trying to qualify for the Korn Ferry Tour. His goal remained to get to the PGA Tour, but he was open-minded about how he could get there. "There's just more than one way to skin a cat," he told Jim Tucker of News.Com au. "So whether it happens to be through Asia, Europe, Japan, or Korn Ferry Tour, there are so many different ways to do it." In his first full year on the European Tour in 2018 played in 21 events making 17 cuts with seven top-ten finishes. Qualified for the U.S. Open and missed the cut. At the British Open, he finished T-51st at Carnoustie. After the British Open was 171st in the Official World Rankings. The Nordea Masters finished 5th, three shots back of the Waring/Aiken playoff. Herbert played his last seven holes in six-under. He had his career-best finish, a T-2nd at the Portugal Masters, three shots back of winner Tom Lewis. I had a T-7th at the Alfred Dunhill Links and a T-3rd at the Sky Sports British Masters. He ended his year with a T-49th at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai. Herbert finished 47th in the Race to Dubai. He ended the year 83rd in the OGWR.

2019 Notes: Played in 21 European Tour events making 15 cuts with two top-ten finishes. It was 107th in the Race to Dubai. Was T-7th at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic and T-8th at the Omega European Masters.

2020 Notes: Played in 12 European Tour events making ten cuts with three top-ten finishes. Won the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, beating Christiaan Bezuidenhout with a birdie on the second playoff hole. Was T-7th at the Irish Open, five back of winner John Catlin. Was T-4th at the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open, two shots back of winner Aaron Rai. He was 2nd at the New Zealand Open, two shots back of winner Brad Kennedy.

2021 Notes: Played in 10 European Tour events making eight cuts with two top-ten finishes. It was 22nd in the Race to Dubai. He played in 11 PGA Tour events making seven cuts. He won the Dubai Duty-Free Irish Open by three shots over Rikard Karlberg. It was his first top-15 of the year, and with the victory gained one of the three berths available to play in the Open Championship at Royal St. George's. At the Aberdeen Scottish Open shot 64-66 to finish T-4th, a shot back of the Lee/Detry/Fitzpatrick playoff. Herbert then went into the Korn Ferry Tour Finals and was T-4th at the Albertsons Boise Open, two shots back of winner Greyson Sigg. The finish secured his PGA Tour card for 2022. He was T-58th at the Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship and T-45th at the Korn Ferry Tour Championship. The European Tour finished the season with a T-21st finish at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.

2022 Notes: Played in 20 PGA Tour events making ten cuts with two top-ten finishes. It was 44th in the FedExCup rankings. On the DP World Tour, he played in 11 events making seven cuts with two top-ten finishes. He was ranked 59th in the Race to Dubai. After missing the cut at the Fortinet and Sanderson Farms, he shot a final-round 69 on a windy afternoon to win the Butterfield Bermuda Championship by a shot over Patrick Reed and Danny Lee. I was T-18th at the Slync.io Dubai Desert Classic and T-21st at the Saudi International the following week. He was T-7th at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, three shots back of winner Scottie Scheffler. He finished T-9th at the Horizon Irish Open. In the FedExCup playoffs, he missed the cut at the FedEx St. Jude and T-15th at the BMW Championship. On the DP World Tour was T-5th at the Italian Open, three shots back of the Robert MacIntyre/Matt Fitzpatrick playoff. He ended his DP World season with a T-25th at the Nedbank Golf Challenge.

2023 Notes: Was 3rd at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, three shots back of winner Rory McIlroy. Next week was 3rd again in the PIF Saudi International, four shots back of winner Abraham Ancer. He was T-9th at the WGC-Dell Match Play, losing to Rory McIlroy 2 up in the round of 16. He won the ISPS Handa Championship Japan, beating Aaron Cockerill on the second hole of a playoff.
