Adam Svensson

Svensson was born in Surrey, British Columbia, to Frank Svensson and Tina Nilsson and attended Earl Marriott Secondary School. He spent six years with the national men's amateur and development squads, winning a bronze medal representing Canada at the 2010 Toyota Junior Golf World Cup and silver at the 2014 Eisenhower Trophy in Karuizawa, Japan, together with Corey Conners and Taylor Pendrith. Won the 2010 British Columbia Amateur championship. He shot a bogey-free course-record 7-under par 64 in the final round to win the 2012 Canadian Boys Junior Championship at Osprey Ridge Golf Club in Nova Scotia.
Svensson left his mark in collegiate golf at NCAA Division II Barry University in Florida, winning nine times, earning two NCAA First-Team All-American honors, and winning the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Team Championships in 2013 and 2014. He won the Phil Mickelson Award as Most Outstanding Freshman in 2013 and was named the Jack Nicklaus Player of the Year for Division II in 2013/14. Svensson was the third-ranked amateur in Canada prior to his pro announcement. He played his first PGA Tour event thanks to a sponsor's exemption into the 2013 RBC Canadian Open, but he missed the cut. Was given another exemption to the 2014 RBC Canadian Open and the Nova Scotia Open on the Korn Ferry Tour, he missed the cut in both. Qualified for match play at the 2014 U.S. Amateur, lost to Zachary Olsen 2 & 1 in the first round.
In 2015 Svensson left college after his junior year to turn professional and play on the Canadian Tour. Was ninth on the Order of Merit, with two runners-up, including losing a playoff to Drew Weaver at the PC Financial Open. He also had one third-place finish and six top-25s. He did not miss a cut in six starts. Only 21 of his 24 rounds were over par, with 19 of them in the 60s. Despite not having status, made seven starts on the Korn Ferry Tour, posting three top-25s, best being a T-11th at the Rust-Oleum Championship. Earned an exemption into the final stage of the Korn Ferry Tour Qualifying Tournament which he was the medalist at, giving him fully-exempt status for the 2016 season.

2017 Korn Ferry Tour Summary: Tournaments Entered - 24; In Money - 12; Top-10 Finishes - 3; Scoring Average - 70.55 (rank 67th); Regular Season Money - $111,564 (rank 58th); best finish T-5th Albertsons Boise Open. Finished the Korn Ferry Tour Finals at No. 51.
2018 Korn Ferry Tour Summary: Tournaments Entered - 23; In Money - 13; Top-10 Finishes - 5; Scoring Average - 69.93 (rank 31st); Regular Season Money - $219,833 (rank 14th); He won his first Korn Ferry Tour title in January 2018 at The Bahamas Great Abaco Classic. Earned his PGA Tour card for the first time with a 14th-place finish on the Regular Season money list. Was 23rd in the final priority-ranking order.
2019 Notes: Played in 25 PGA Tour events making 11 cuts. He only had three top-25 finishes, best was T-15th at the 3M Open. Was 167th on the FedEx Cup, thus having to return to the Korn Ferry Tour.
2020/21 Korn Ferry Tour Summary: Tournaments Entered - 41; In Money - 33; Top-10 Finishes - 8; Scoring Average - 69.28 (rank 13th); Regular Season Money - $566,357 (rank 5th); won twice, 2021 Club Car Championship and Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship. While he had already secured a PGA Tour card for 2022, the win improved Svensson's priority status for that year to 3rd, missing the fully exempt status for the 2021-22 PGA Tour season that comes with winning the Korn Ferry Tour Finals Points List by less than two points.
2022 Notes: Played in 31 PGA Tour events making 20 cuts with three top-ten finishes. Was 97th on the FedEx Cup points list. Was T-7th at the Sony Open in Hawaii, his first top-ten on the PGA Tour. Was T-9th at the Honda Classic and 6th at the Barbasol Championship.
2023 Notes: Was T-12th in the season-opening Fortinet Championship. Won The RSM Classic by two shots over Brian Harman, Callum Tarren, and Sahith THeegala. He earned his first career PGA Tour victory in his 70th start at age 28 years, 10 months, and 20 days. Became the first first-time winner on Tour of the season and eighth first-time winner in tournament history. Became the second player from Canada to win The RSM Classic (Mackenzie Hughes/2016) and the second to win on Tour in 2022-23 (Hughes/Sanderson Farms Championship). Opened with a first-round 73, the highest opening 18-hole score by a winner since Jon Rahm at the 2020 BMW Championship (75). Stood T-108th after the first round, the worst 18-hole position by a winner since Ian Poulter at the 2018 Cadence Bank Houston Open (T-123rd). Played the second through final rounds in 190 (64-62-64), the lowest 54-hole score (any consecutive rounds) since Matt Jones at the 2022 Sentry Tournament of Champions (190, rounds 2-4). Was T-9th at the Genesis Invitational.
