Adrian Otaegui

Mentored by Europe's 2012 Ryder Cup captain Jose Maria Olazabal, having played most of his junior golf at his local golf club in the seaside resort of Fuenterrabia, where Olazabal was born and raised. Then made the short move over the border to Biarritz, but still stays in regular contact with his idol and mentor. Won 11 titles in a glittering amateur career, including the 2010 British Boys Amateur Championship at Kilmarnock (Barassie) Golf Club in Scotland, emulating the achievement of Olazabal whose name was etched onto the same trophy in 1983 by winning the 2010 Boys Amateur Championship at Kilmarnock (Barassie) Golf Club where he beat Max Rottluff 4 & 3 in the final.
Otaegui turned professional in July 2011. From 2011 to 2013 he played on the Challenge Tour. He had three runner-up finishes in 2013, at the Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge, the Rolex Trophy, and the Kazakhstan Open, finishing 7th on the order of merit to earn his place on the European Tour for 2014. After a poor 2014, Otaegui regained his place on the European tour by finishing T-5th in the 2014 Q School. He lost his card again in 2015 but was the joint winner of the 2015 Q School to regain his place for 2016.
2016 Notes: Played in 27 European Tour events making 15 cuts and was in the top-ten twice including a 2nd place finish at the Lyoness Open finishing 1 shot back of winner Ashun Wu. A month later finished T-3rd at the Made in Denmark 2 shots back of winner Thomas Pieters. He ended the year 69th in the Race to Dubai.
2017 Notes: Played in 31 European Tour events making 19 cuts and finishing in the top-ten 3 times. After a poor start, Otaegui finished T-7th in the French Open after being tied for the lead after 36 holes. In the final against Marcel Siem, he was three down after 9 holes but then won six of the next eight holes to win 2&1. Ended the year 58th in the Race to Dubai.
2018 Notes: Played in 26 European Tour events making 23 cuts with seven top-ten finishes. Ended his year with a T-10th at the Made in Denmark, then T-3rd at the Turkish Airlines Open, two shots back of winner Justin Rose. Was T-4th at the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai, 4 shots back of winner Danny Willett. Finished 23rd in the Race to Dubai.
