Alexander Levy

Levy was born to French parents who both were pharmacists in Orange, California. He took up the game at age 3 before moving to France from California in 1994. He resides in Bandol, France. He had a successful amateur career prior to turning pro, winning the 2009 French Amateur Championship and 2010 French International Amateur Championship. Levy was also part of the winning French team at the 2010 World Amateur Team Championship (where he also finished 2nd in the individual ranking). He wrapped up his amateur career during the 2011 summer by winning the European Team Championship.
Levy turned professional in 2011 and initially played on the Challenge Tour in 2011 and 2012. His last year in 2012 he finished 30th on the Challenge Tour Order of Merit before earning his European Tour at qualifying school for the 2013 season.
2013 Notes: Levy's learning experience on the European Tour took a positive turn when he finished T-10th at the Lyoness Open and the M2M Russian Open. In between those events he was 3rd at the BMW International Open playing in the last group over the weekend battling for victory with his hero and eventual winner, Ernie Els. He also had an impressive 3rd place finish at the Thailand Golf Championship behind Sergio Garcia and Henrik Stenson.
2014 Notes: A close friend of Romain Wattel and Victor Dubuisson, Levy added his name to the list of French champions when he won the 2014 Volvo China Open, an event co-sanctioned with the OneAsia Tour, where he shot a 19-under-par 269. During the second round, Levy shot a course record 62 at Genzon Golf Club giving him a 4 shot lead at the halfway point from which he was able to hold on to win. Following this win, Levy was named as April 2014 European Tour Golfer of the Month. At the Portugal Masters, he shot 63-61 as the tournament was shortened due to heavy rain. Two weeks later, he lost a playoff to Marcel Siem at the BMW Masters in China. Levy finished 9th in the Race to Dubai.
2015 Notes: Played in 27 events and had two top-tens, T-3rd while defending his Volvo China Open title two shots back of winner Wu Ashun and T-3rd again five weeks later at the Nordea Masters. He won euro 853,403 and was 44th in the Race to Dubai.
2016 Notes: Played in 24 events with five top-tens. He edged out England's Ross Fisher at the second hole of a playoff to win the Porsche European Open title at Bad Griesbach in Germany. He became the youngest Frenchman in history to claim their first three European Tour titles at age 26 years and 55 days, beating the previous record of Gregory Bourdy, who was 27 and 204 days when he won his third at the 2010 Hong Kong Open (Nov 09). Also was runner-up at the Handa Perth Invitational, one shot back of winner Louis Oosthuizen. Also, T-4th at the Shenzhen International and British Masters.
2017 Notes: Played in 24 European Tour events making 21 cuts. He had five top-tens, he won again at the Volvo China Open, shot 67 in the final round to catch Dylan Frittelli and beat him with a birdie on the first playoff hole. Also was 4th at the Maybank Championship, 3 shots back of Fabrizio Zanotti who shot 63 in the final round to win. Was 2nd in the Porsche European Open losing a playoff on the second extra hole to Jordan L Smith. Had a T-7th at the Dunhill Links, he finished 21st in the Race to Dubai.
2018 Notes: Played the middle east desert swing well, 7th at Abu Dhabi, 4th at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic 4 shots back of winner Li Haotong. In the inaugural NBO Oman Open was T-4th. Won for the 5th time at the Trophee Hassan II beating Alvaro Quiros by a shot. Since then has only made one cut in eight starts going into the Scottish Open.
