Anders Forsbrand

Forsbrand was born in Filipstad, Sweden, and turned professional in 1981 Is one of the first Swedish players to make a major impact on the European Tour. He first played on the European Tour in 1982, and has been a member since. He won six individual titles on the European tour and finished in the top ten of the Order of Merit three times, with a best of fourth place in 1992. In 1993, he became the first Swedish golfer to play in all four major championships in the same year, Forsbrand had a special penchant for low scoring and still holds the record along with Tom Watson and Ian Baker-Finch for the lowest final two rounds in a Major Championship from the British Open in 1994 when he shot 66-64--130.
In 2004, Bernhard Langer the European Ryder Cup Captain, named Forsbrand as his vice-captain for the 35th Ryder Cup against the United States at Oakland Hills Country Club, in which the European team had a resounding victory over the US Team. In his European Tour career that went from 1982 to 2003 he played 425 events with six wins, 11 runner-ups and 37 top-tens. Won a total of euro3,084,827.
Forsbrand began playing on the European Seniors Tour after turning 50 in 2011. In August 2012, he won the SSE Scottish Senior Open, becoming the first Swede to win on the European Senior Tour.
He held off the challenge of Philip Golding who carded consecutive rounds of 64 at the weekend. Was also a pioneer for his country on The European Tour, having represented Sweden at every level, amateur and professional. Six victories in 21 seasons made him one of the most successful golfers to emerge from Scandinavia. Led Sweden to Alfred Dunhill Cup victory in 1991 and the World Cup a month later. Enjoyed his best season in 1992, winning twice and finishing fourth on the money list. In 1993, he became the first Swedish golfer to play in all four majors in the same year. Was one of Bernhard Langer?s assistants at the 2004 Ryder Cup.

Earned $304,935 in his final six events ($50,823 per start) and moved up 56 spots on the money list, from No. 100 prior to his start at the Montreal Championship...Played some of his best golf in the last two months of the season, finishing in the top 10 in four of his final six starts. Best finish of the year was T-4th at the Montreal Championship. Ended the year 36th in the Schwab Rankings. Went back to Champions Tour Q-school in an attempt to try to improve his status by gaining one of the five fully-exempt positions. Could not bounce back from an opening-round 74 and eventually finished 12th overall to remain conditionally-exempt.
2014 Notes: With his limited status was about to play in 17 events on the Champions Tour. Only had two top-25 finishes, best was T-22nd at Mississippi Gulf Resort.
