Born in Paris, where his father worked in the oil business. With Gary McCord, helps conduct the Santa Claus Open, an annual charity pro-am at TPC Scottsdale. With Scott Verplank and Brian Watts, runs the ClubCorp Pro-Am in Dallas to benefit the health clinic at his former junior high school.
Played the PGA Tour on a full-time basis from 1985-2006, played in 606 events making 361 cuts and finishing in the top-10, 64 times. Won four times, was runner-up seven times and 3rd, five times with career earnings of $8.5 million.
Played in nine U.S. Opens and three U.S. Amateurs.
The Senior PGA Championship was his first over 50 tournament start.
2012 Notes: Turned 50 in late May and made his Tour debut days later at the Senior PGA Championship, where he made the cut and finished 60th. One week after his Tour debut, had three straight rounds of 68 to claim a 6th finish at The Principal Charity Classic in Iowa. Was T-8 in his previous start at the Pacific Links Hawaii Championship, the next week was on the leader board for much of the final two rounds at the SAS Championship in North Carolina in October before eventually finishing T6th. End the year 46th on the money list.
