Ayaka Furue

Furue was born in Kobe and started playing golf at 3, coached by her father. She has also been a swimmer and has played golf since age four.
Furue won the Kansai Elementary School Golf Championship in 2012 and the Kansai Junior High School Golf Championship in 2014 and 2015, and while attending Kobe Municipal Nagata Junior High School, she won the National Junior High School Golf Championship in 2015 and the Kansai High School Golf Championship in 2016. She participated in the 2016 Japan Women's Open Golf Championship, where she made the cut and finished T-28th. She played for the Japan National Team in 2017 and 2018. She won the 2018 Junior Golf World Cup with the team and finished 4th individually.
Furue was T-3rd in the 2018 Asian Games as a member of the Japan Golf Team but lost a playoff to Bianca Pagdanganan for the bronze medal. Top amateur in Japan before turning pro midway through 2019. She won the 2018 Kansai Women's Amateur.
As an amateur, she won the 2019 Fujitsu Ladies Tournament for her first career win on the Japan LPGA Tour.
Has played on the Japan LPGA since 2019.
In 2019, she played in four events on the JLPGA and placed T-2nd at the LPGA Tour Championship Ricoh Cup and T-4th at the Daio Paper Elleair Ladies Open.
2020/21 Japan LPGA Notes: Played in 46 events, making 45 cuts with 21 Top-ten finishes. She won six times and was runner-up four times. She was 2nd on the Japan LPGA money list, winning Yen246,743,575 (US$1,816,401). She was 4th in the Amundi Evian Championship, two shots out of the playoff won by Minjee Lee. She was T-20th in the AIG Women's Open. After the season, she earned her LPGA card for 2022 by finishing 7th in the LPGA Q Series.
2022 Notes: Played in 27 LPGA Tour events, making 24 cuts with four top-ten finishes. She was 29th on the money list with $957,831 in earnings and was 17th in CME Points. She was 2nd in the Bank of Hope LPGA Match-Play. She lost in the finals to Eun-Hee Ji 3 & 2. She was the first-round leader at the Amundi Evian Championship after opening with a 63 and finished T-19th. She shot a final round 62 to win the Trust Golf Women's Scottish Open by three shots over Celine Boutier. Furue finished T-3rd at the Amazingcre Portland Classic, two shots back of the winner, Andrea Lee. Returning home to Japan, she won the Fujitsu Ladies by a shot over Akie Iwai. She then finished T-5th at the Toto Japan Classic, eight shots back of the winner Gemma Dryburgh. Ended her LPGA season with a T-25th finish at the CME Group Tour Championship. She ended her season in Japan, finishing T-26th at the Nipponham Ladies Classic.
2023 Notes: Played in 24 LPGA Tour events, making 22 cuts with eight top-ten finishes. She was 13th on the money list with $1,637,334 in earnings and was 10th in CME Points. She was T-3rd at the HSBC Women's Champions, three shots back of the winner Jin Young Ko. On the JLPGA, shot a final round 65 to finish T-3rd at the Meij Yasuda Life Yokohama Tire Golf Tournament, three shots back of the Hikaru Yoshimoto/Shoko Sasaki playoff. She was 3rd again at the LPGA Drive On Championship at Superstition Mt., a shot back of the Celine Boutier/Georgia Hall playoff. She was T-4th at the JM Eagle LA Championship, one shot out of the Hannah Green/Xiyu Lin/Aditi Ashok playoff. She was a member of Japan's team at the Hanwha LIFEPLUS International Crown and was 0-3 in the matches. Finished 2nd for the second straight year at the Bank of Hope LPGA Match-Play, losing to Pajaree Anannarukarn, 3 and 1 in the finals. One week later, she was T-4th in the Mizuho Americas Open, two shots from the Rose Zhang/Jennifer Kupcho playoff. She leads after the first and second rounds of the Meijer LPGA Classic, shooting 69-73 to finish T-13th. Furue was T-8th in the KPMG Women's PGA Championship, three back of winner Ruoning Yin. She was T-6th at the U.S. Women's Open, seven shots back of the winner, Allisen Corpuz. She was T-10th at the BMW Ladies Championship and ended the season T-16th at the CME Group Tour Championship.
2024 Notes: Played in 24 LPGA Tour events, making 23 cuts with 12 top-ten finishes. She was 6th on the money list with $2,811,824 in earnings and was 6th in CME Points. She started her year with back-to-back T-4ths at the Hilton Grand Vacations T of C and the LPGA Drive On Championship. Wa T-8th at the HSBC Women's Championship and then 3rd at the Blue Bay LPGA, shooting a final round 65 to finish five shots back of winner Bailey Tardy. Was T-7th at the Mizuho Americas Open, five shots back of winner Nelly Korda. At the U.S. Women's Open was T-6th, six shots back of the winner, Yuka Saso. She was T-2nd at the ShopRite LPGA Classic, a shot back of winner Sinnea Strom. Was T-8th at the Meijer LPGA Classic. With a final round 65, she won her first major at the Amundi Evian Championship, one shot better than Stephanie Kyriacou. Shot 69-68 on the weekend at the ISPS Handa Women's Scottish Open to finish 3rd, six shots back of the winner Lauren Coughlin. She qualified for the CME Globe Tour Championship, where she finished T-8th. She won the Vare Trophy with a season scoring average of 69.988. She finished third on Tour in scoring average, but the two leaders, Nelly Korda and Jeeno Thitikul, did not play enough rounds to qualify for the Trophy.
2025 Notes: Finished T-2nd in the HSBC Women's World Championship in Singapore, four back of winner Lydia Ko. She had her second straight top-three finish with a 3rd at the Blue Bay LPGA, seven shots back of the winner, Rio Takeda.
