Brendan Jones

Born in the western New South Wales town of West Wyalong on March 3, 1975, Brendan moved to Moruya on the southern coast of New South Wales at the age of six months and then just a few months later to nearby Tuross Head. His father, Trevor, had received a transfer with the Bank for which he was working and hence the move to the coast.
Brendan's first interest in the game came when his father decided to take up the game and he soon followed. Like so many youngsters raised in a laid back coastal town, Steele took advantage of the opportunity to play tennis, cricket and even surfed.
Brendan joined the Moruya Golf Club soon after taking up the game. At 13, Brendan attended one of the many clinics that coach, Alex Mercer conducted throughout country New South Wales. Brendan made South Coast age group teams but received instant elevation to the Senior State (NSW) side when selected for the Inter-State series in Tasmania in 1992.
As a result of that success, Brendan was offered a scholarship to the Australian Institute of Sport's Golf Academy in Melbourne and after two years there, stayed on in Victoria for another year, working at the Dunes Golf Club which was nearing completion on the Mornington Peninsula.
At the end of 1995, Brendan was keen to get back to New South Wales to get more experience and play Pennants in the Sydney competition. When he indicated that intention to several friends in the game, it was suggested that he might like to join the Castle Hill Golf Club in the north west of Sydney.
Brendan enjoyed superb season winning three titles in 2007 Japan Golf Tour. His stunning final round of 61 at the Golf Nippon Series beat the 2007 JGT Order of Merit winner Toru Taniguchi by a single stroke. With his outstanding amateur career he started to play in Japan Tour in 2000. He established his position earning JGT tour card for consecutive 6 years after 2001. In 2008 Brendan played 7 events and posted 4 top-10s without missed cut.
Played on the PGA Tour full time in 2005, finished 144th on money list even though he finished 2nd in the B.C. Open. In his career has played in 48 PGA Tour events with 24 cuts made and just one top-ten. Also has played in 15 Nationwide Tour events, winning the 2004 LaSalle Bank Open. In 2004 played in just eight events, won once and finished runner-up three times. With just the 8 starts was able to earn $292,715 which was 6th on the money list and got him an exemption on the PGA Tour in 2005.
