Chad Campbell

Began playing golf with his father and brother in Andrews, Texas. Older brother Mike is the golf coach at Abilene Christian. While playing golf at UNLV, worked at a coffee shop with other teammates to earn spending money. Played on the 2004, 2006 and 2008 Ryder Cup teams.
Was a member of the UNLV team that placed second in the 1996 NCAA Championship, a team that included current professionals Chris Riley and Ted Oh. Winner of two Hooters Tour events in 1998 - the Camellia City Classic and Jackaroo Steakhouse and Sauce Classic. Was the leading money winner on the Hooters Tour in 1998 with $185,430 and earning Player of the Year honors. Also leading money winner on the Hooters Tour in 2000 with earnings of $188,279. Campbell left the Tour as the career leader in wins and earnings. In 2001, he played on the Web.com Tour, where he earned a "battlefield promotion," winning three tournaments to earn promotion to the elite PGA Tour part way through the season.
2001 Web.Com Tour Summary: Tournaments entered - 23; in money - 21; top-10 finishes - 8; scoring average 69.59 (ranked 2nd); money $394,552 (ranked 1st); best finish, winner Richmond Open, Permian Basin Open, Monterey Peninsula Classic.
In 2003 Campbell won The Tour Championship, was runner-up to surprise winner Shaun Micheel at the PGA Championship, and finished 7th on the PGA Tour money list. He claimed a 2nd PGA Tour win in 2004 and made a strong start to 2006, winning the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic and topping the money list for a short time early in the season. He claimed his 4th PGA Tour victory by one stroke at the 2007 Viking Classic.
In the 2009 Masters Tournament, he went to a playoff against Angel Cabrera and Kenny Perry, but was eliminated on the first playoff hole, the 18th, after he missed a four-foot par putt. Also that week he had the best start to a Masters Tournament after getting five birdies in the first five holes.
Campbell played the 2013'14 season with conditional status, but failed to graduate from the Korn Ferry Tour finals. He used a career money list exemption for 2014'15 and retained exempt status the following year.
2015 Notes: Played in 20 PGA Tour events making 18 cuts and in the top-ten, twice. Best finish T-8th at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans and FedEx St. Jude Classic. Was able to participate in the FedExCup playoffs for the 7th time and first since 2012. Finished 96th in the FedExCup race and 100th on the money list.
2016 Notes: Played in 28 PGA Tour events making 17 cuts, was in the top-ten, 3 times. Best finish T-8th at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. Also T-9thj at the RSM Classic and T-10th at the Dean & DeLuca Invitational. Was 73rd in the FedExCup race and 91st on the money list.
2017 Notes: Played in 29 PGA Tour events making 20 cuts, was in the top-ten, 3 times. Was T-6th at the CareerBuilder Challenge, T-9th at the Greenbrier Classic and T-10th at the FedEx St. Jude Classic.
2018 Notes: Played in 28 PGA Tour events making 16 cuts, was in the top-ten, 2 times. Was T-7th at the John Deere Classic. Mixed six birdies with one bogey for 11 points on the final day of the Barracuda Championship to finish 2nd by four points to Andrew Putnam in the Modified Stableford scoring format. It marked his best finish on the PGA Tour since a runner-up effort also in Nevada at the 2009 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, losing in a playoff to Martin Laird. Was seeking his fifth PGA Tour victory in his 470th start, having last won 297 starts previously at the 2007 Sanderson Farms Championship. Finished the year 129th on the FedExCup list, only the second time in his career out of the top 125.
2019 Notes: Played in 13 PGA Tour events making four cuts. His best finish was T-42nd at the Puerto Rico Open and he finished 239 on the FedExCup points list.
2020 Notes: Playee in 9 PGA Tour events, only made one cut finishing T-9th at the Houston Open. It would be his last full-time on the PGA Tour. In his career on the PGA Tour played in 496 events making 327 cuts with 57 top ten finishes. He earned $26,817,362.
On the Korn Ferry played in 60 events making 35 cuts with nine top ten finishes. He earned $473,346.
2024 Notes: Joined the PGA Tour Champions Tour and in 13 starts had one top ten finish in his very first start, T-8th at the Principal Charity Classic. Opened with bogey-free 66 on his 50th birthday before shooting 67-68 on the weekend. Was 80th on the Schwab money list with earnings of $83,147.
2025 Notes: Best finish T-36th at the Galleri Classic.
