Began playing golf at a course located between his home and school as a child. Served for a period in the Taiwanese Marines. Has competed on the Asian Tour, Taiwan Tour and Japan Golf Tour. Owns 12 wins on the Asian Tour and 20 on the Taiwan Tour. One of the dominant players on the Asian Tour in the 1980s and a two-time winner of that circuit's Order of Merit.
Was sidelined for nearly eight years (2001 to 2008) with back problems before returning to competition in 2009. Capped his comeback with a victory at the 2009 Mercedes Benz Masters in Malaysia on the Mercedes-Benz Tour. He also won twice in Taiwan in 2009. Played briefly on the Web.com Tour in 1992, making 11 starts and posting two top-10 finishes: tied for fifth at the Louisiana Open and tied for 10th at the Quicksilver Open.
Claimed the 12th and final conditionally-exempt spot at the 2009 Champions Tour National Qualifying Tournament with a birdie on the eighth playoff hole. In 2010, had a very impressive rookie season, finishing 16th on the Champions Tour money list. Began the year conditionally exempt before his good play earned him exempt status for the remainder of the year following the re-shuffle in late summer. Put together eight top-10 finishes in 19 starts and was among the top-three finishers four times. Nearly won his first tournament in August when he finished T-2nd with Michael Allen at the JELD-WEN Tradition in Oregon. Trailed eventual-winner, Fred Funk, by one stroke on the final hole and narrowly missed a chance to tie and force a playoff when his 40-foot bunker shot for a birdie narrowly missed.
In 2011, earned another berth among the top-30 money-winners, finishing 24th. Recorded his best performance of the year in early July at the Montreal Championship, his only top-10 effort until closing his season with four top 10s in his last five starts. Nearly won his first career title when he was the 36-hole leader at the Montreal Championship. Battled eventual winner John Cook for much of Sunday's final round, eventually finishing second. Won his maiden European Senior Tour title, finishing five shots clear in the Fubon Senior Open to seal a memorable home victory at Miramar Golf and Country Club in Taiwan. It was his first Senior Tour event outside the Senior Major Championships.
2012 Notes: For the third year in succession, was among the top-30 money-winners, finishing 26th overall. Matched his career-best Champions Tour finish when he was T-2nd at the Regions Tradition, two strokes behind Tom Lehman. Teamed with Andy Bean for a T-3rd finish in the Legends Division of the Liberty Mutual Insurance Legends of Golf.
2013 Notes: Finished 26th on the money list for the second consecutive year and played in every event for which he was eligible with five top-10 finishes. Best finish was fourth in the Greater Gwinnett Championship.
2014 Notes: Dropped 17 spots on the money list, from 26th in 2013 to 43rd. Earned $408,275. Had his best finish in his first start of the year in Florida. In contention throughout the Allianz Championship and eventually finished third, one shot out of a playoff with Duffy Waldorf and eventual winner, Michael Allen. Posted a T-8th at the Greater Gwinnett Championship in April.
In 2015, his best finish was T-17th at the Regions Tradition and Principal Charity Classic.
