Colt Knost

Enjoyed a fine amateur career in 2007, winning the U.S. Amateur (held at Olympic), U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship and leading the U.S. team to a victory in the Walker Cup, calling the latter his biggest thrill in golf. Joined Bobby Jones (1930) and Jay Sigel (1983) as the only players to win three USGA events in a season. One of just six players to win two USGA individual tournaments in a season. By turning pro, turned down invitations to play in the 2008 Masters, U.S. Open and British Open. Was ranked as the top amateur in the country when he turned pro.
Made the cut in his first two professional starts at the Valero Texas Open (T-49th) and the Frys.com Open (T-39th). Finished the year T-85th at PGA Tour Qualifying school which got him his Web.Com Tour card.
2008 Web.Com Tour Summary: Tournaments entered - 22; in money - 14; top-10 finishes - 2; scoring average 70.53 (ranked 27th); money $329,509 (ranked 6th); Winner, Fort Smith Classic, Price Cutter Charity Championship. This get him a PGA Tour card for 2009.
2009 Notes: Played his rookie season on the PGA Tour, he made the cut in 11 of 24 starts. Lone top-25 finish was a T-25th at The 50th Bob Hope Classic, he finished 188th in the FedEx Cup race and 193rd on the money list. He returned to PGA Tour Q-School and finished T-116th, which got him limited status on the Web.Com Tour.
2010 Web.Com Tour Summary: Tournaments entered - 26; in money - 15; top-10 finishes - 4; scoring average 69.91 (ranked 23rd); money $261,090 (ranked 15th); Best finish, 2nd Web.Com Championship. The got him a return ticket to the PGA Tour for 2011.
2011 Notes: Made 27 PGA Tour starts, with one top-15 finish, a T15th at the FedEx St. Jude Classic. Made three Nationwide Tour starts, with two made cuts. In December, successfully made his way through the PGA Tour Q-school, finishing T-27th, good for a return trip to the PGA Tour in 2012.
2012 Notes: Had his first career top-10, coming in his 65th career PGA Tour start. Shot weekend rounds of 67-66 at the Mayakoba Golf Classic to finish T-3rd. Previous-best finish was a T-15th at the 2011 FedEx St. Jude Classic .Was tied for the lead after the first round of the RBC Heritage with a 4-under 67 and then moved into solo-possession of the second-round lead with a 5-under 66. Entered the final round one shot behind Carl Pettersson, but a triple bogey on the par-4 third hole derailed his chances for victory, with him eventually finishing 3rd for his second top-10 finish of the season. Was 120th in the FedEx Cup standings and 109th on the money race.
2013 Notes: Played in 25 PGA Tour events making the cut in 10 of them. Only had one top-25 finish, T-21st at the HP Byron Nelson, he finished 184th in the FedEx Cup standings and 189th on the money list. He returned to the Web.Com Tour for 2014.
2014 Web.Com Tour Summary: Tournaments entered - 22; in money - 17; top-10 finishes - 4; scoring average 70.05 (ranked 30th); money $106,460 (ranked 34th); Best finish, 2nd Hotel Fitness Championship. He finished fourth at the Regular Season-ending WinCo Foods Portland Open. Entered the weekend there T-47th, then shot a 63 on Saturday to jump to T-4th. A final-round 70 placed him inside the top five and 34th on the money list. Earned a return to the PGA Tour with his runner-up performance at the Hotel Fitness Championship in late August. Held a one-shot advantage after 54 holes. Missed a 15-foot putt on the 72nd hole that would have forced a playoff with winner Bud Cauley. Posted a T-9th at the Chiquita Classic and a T-14th at the Web.com Tour Championship.
2015 Notes: Four top-10 finishes in 27 starts gave him a second trip into the FedExCup Playoffs and first appearance since 2012. A missed cut at The Barclays was followed by a T-44th finish at the Deutsche Bank Championship a week later, ending his season at 91st in the FedExCup standings. All 4 of his top-10s were all T-10th place finishes at the Humana Challenge, Crowne Plaza Invitational, AT&T Byron Nelson and Barracuda Championship.
2016 Notes: Got his first top-10 with a T-3rd at the Players Championship, closed with a 5-under 65 to finish just two back of the Sergio Garcia-Brooks Koepka playoff. . The next week finished T-4th at the AT&T Bryon Nelson. His third top-10 came at the Barracuda Championship where he finished 3rd.
