Gina Kim

Gina Kim was introduced to golf by her father, Hosun. She played golf at Chapel Hill High School and joined the Duke women's golf team in the fall of 2018.
In 2015, she was T-9th at the U.S. Girls' Junior Championship and was a Rolex Junior All-America honorable mention in 2015 and 2014. She won the 2016 AJGA's Girls Junior Championship by two strokes.
After participating in the 2015 Drive, Chip & Putt National Finals at Augusta National Golf Club, she went on to represent the United States in the 2016 Junior Ryder Cup and the 2017 Junior Solheim Cup.
Kim collected two runner-up finishes in 2017 at the PING Invitational and the AJGA Girls Championship. She earned her one of four exemptions into the 2017 LPGA's Volunteers of America Texas Shootout, where she shot 72-68, and missed the cut by two shots.
A freshman at Duke University, she experienced success early in her collegiate career. She earned her first win in her fourth start in the 2018 Landfall Tradition in October, where she finished T-1st with teammate Elena Carta. She also finished 5th in the 2019 Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in March.
At the 2018 U.S. Girls' Junior championship, she reached the semifinals before falling 3 & 2, to eventual champion Yealimi Noh. She competed in the 2018 U.S. Women's Amateur and 2018 U.S. Women's Open but missed both cuts.
In April 2019, she played in the inaugural Augusta National Women's Amateur missing the cut with scores of 77-73. She was T-12th in the 2019 U.S. Women?s Open to finish as low amateur. She missed the cut in 2018 and 2021. She won the 2020 Harder Hall Women?s Invitational on New Year?s Eve with a wire-to-wire victory. She was a member of the 2021 U.S. Curtis Cup team. She was T-13 in the 2021 Augusta National Women?s Amateur. ... She won the 2021 North & South Women?s Amateur at Pinehurst. She was T-35th at 2021 LPGA Q Series, while playing as an amateur. She later turned pro and accepted LPGA Tour status for 2022.
2022 Notes: After playing for Duke in the fall semester of 2021, she turned pro in January 2022. Played in 13 LPGA Tour events making four cuts. Her best finish was T-18th at the Meijer LPGA Classic. Played in 19 Epson Tour events making 15 cuts with five top-ten finishes. She was the IOA Golf Classic. She finished 5th on the money list with earnings of $89,720. With that earn LPGA membership for 2023.
2023 Notes: Best finish T-17th JM Eagle LA Championship.
Outside of golf, she enjoys basketball, cooking, drawing, and swimming. Her parents, Hosun and Sangsuk, are both Spanish professors at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She has one sister, Hannah.
Kim says that her good luck charm is her teddy bear keychain on her putter cover, and her heroes in life are her parents, Tiger Woods and Lydia Ko.
