John Huston

Medalist at the 1987 Qualifying Tournament. Earned first Tour title at windswept 1990 Honda Classic. Won the Walt Disney World/Oldsmobile Classic in 1992, where his winning total of 26-under 262 was one off the Tour records for most strokes under par in a 72-hole event. He earned his third victory at the 1994 Doral-Ryder Open.
His sister, Julie Jones, caddied for him during his record-breaking 1998 United Airlines Hawaiian Open performance. With his daughter, Jessica, he won the Father-Daughter tournament at the 1997 National Car Rental Golf Classic at Walt Disney World Resort. He suffered from bursitis in his left shoulder in 1997.
He overcame severe shoulder injuries to claim a pair of titles in 1998 and finished 10th on the money list that season, his highest standing ever. His best four-day performance, at the time, by any player on Tour was at the 1998 United Airlines Hawaiian Open. Broke the 72-hole scoring record in relation to par with a 28-under 260 at Waialae, cruising to a seven-stroke triumph over Tom Watson.
He closed his 1998 season with a victory at the National Car Rental Golf Classic at Walt Disney World Resort. His sixth PGA Tour victory was in 2000 at the Tampa Bay Classic, his fifth title in Florida; the win occurred on his home course, Innisbrook Resort's Copperhead Course. His most recent victory was in 2003 at the Southern Farm Bureau Classic, where he birdied three of the final four holes to defeat Brenden Pappas, who shot a final-round 62 by one shot.
Played on the PGA Tour full-time from 1988 to 2009, winning seven titles. Joined the Champions Tour in 2011 and won Dick's Sporting Goods Open in late June with a final-round 65 and a three-stroke victory over Nick Price.
2012 Notes: He fell from 17th to 36th on the final money list due to an injury-plagued year. Hand and wrist problems forced him out of the Principal Charity Classic after just one round, leading to a subsequent withdrawal from the following event at the Regions Charity Classic. Later in the year, an elbow problem forced him to withdraw after just one round in his final two starts. He was in contention early on the front nine of the final round of the U.S. Senior Open but made consecutive double bogeys on No. 8 and 9 at Indianwood to derail his chances. He finished T-6th with John Cook. He also earned a T-8th finish at the Toshiba Classic.
2013 Notes: His season was limited to 12 events due to health-related issues (back, neck, and elbow), and he did not play after the Boeing Classic in August. His top performance was in late June when he strung together four consecutive rounds in the 60s, leading to a T-4th finish at the Constellation Senior Players Championship. He was also T-4th in his final start of the year at the Boeing Classic.
2014 Notes: Due to cervical dystonia, he did not play an official event for the first time in his PGA Tour Champions career. Cervical dystonia is a nerve disorder of the neck.
2015 Notes: Made his first Tour start since the 2013 Boeing Classic, shooting 66 in the final round of the Allianz Championship to finish T-3rd. It was his best performance in an event since a T-2nd at the 2011 SAS Championship. He was out of action for almost 18 months due to cervical dystonia. He played in the final group Sunday at Dick's Sporting Goods Open, but an even-par 72 dropped him back into a T-8th. He was 43rd on the money list and 48th in the Schwab ranking.
2016 Notes: He played in 13 events and started the year with his only top-ten, T-6th, at the Allianz Championship. It was 76th on the money list and Schwab Ranking.
2017 Notes: He made just 14 starts and failed to post a top-25 finish for the first time in his career as he continued to be troubled by health woes. Best finish T-29th at the Principal Charity Classic.
2018 Notes: Played in 17 PGA Tour Champions events. Best finish was T-12th at the Toshiba Classic. He was 73rd in the Charles Schwab Cup.
2019 Notes: Played in 18 PGA Tour Champions events with four top-25 finishes. He was 65th on the Schwab Ranking. His best finish was T-15th at the Insperity Invitational.
2020 & 2021 Notes: Played in 24 PGA Tour Champions events. He was 76th in the Schwab rankings and 76th on the money list earning $232,027. Best finish T-18th at the 2020 Hoag Classic.
2022 Notes: Played in 15 PGA Tour Champions events with four top-ten finishes. He was 35th in the Schwab rankings and 36th on the money list earning $610,961. At the Shaw Charity Classic finished 2nd after falling short in a playoff against Jerry Kelly. After opening with 71 at The Ally Challenge, he closed with 68-67 en route to a T-9th finish. After opening with 67 at the Ascension Charity Classic, he closed with 66-70 to finish T-5th, four shots back of winner Padraig Harrington. He was T-8th at the TimberTech Championship and T-17th in the season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship.
2023 Notes: Best finish T-33rd at the Insperity Invitational.
