Lauren Morris

Started playing golf at four years old. Her father bought her first set of clubs, and she began swinging in the backyard. Then he took her to the golf course, where he would drop a ball 150 yards out from the pin and told her to keep hitting until she got to the green.
At her first U.S. kids tournament, her dad was helping her during warm-ups to prevent her from taking the club inside on her swing. While this worked on her backswing, it didn't do so well for her follow-through as she struck him with the club, which left a large cut on his forehead.
Junior Career Notes: She was named first-team Rolex Junior All-American in 2014 and was an honorable mention in 2012 and 2013. She ranked 8th in the Polo Junior Rankings on August 15, 2015, as she enrolled at Clemson. Won six AJGA titles over her career, including the Wells Fargo Junior Classic in 2014, and the AJGA Girls Championship. Was the runner-up at the Polo Junior Golf Classic in 2014. She finished 2nd in the Golfweek Class of 2015 juniors and played for the U.S. in the Toyota Junior World Cup Series in the summer of 2015, where she finished 9th individually. Finished 4th in the stroke play and reached the quarterfinals of the North-South Amateur at Pinehurst No. 2 in 2015.
She had a relatively uncommon high school career as well. She led her high school to three AAAA state championships and won the individual title as a junior and senior, and she also played against the boys. As a senior, she finished 5th in the AAAA state championship in S.C. She is believed to be the first to ever be named to both the boy's and girls' All-State teams.
In USGA championships, she qualified for the U.S. Girls' Junior three times, from 2011-2013 but did not make match play. She lost in the semifinals of the 2018 U.S. Women's Amateur to Jiwon Jeon in 23 holes. ... She lost in the quarterfinals of the 2017 U.S. Women's Amateur.
