Megan Khang

She first started playing golf around the age of five and credits her dad, Lee, with introducing her to the sport. Megan's father, Lee Khang, is a freelance golf instructor who mostly works on public ranges and courses in Rockland, Mass. She says her most memorable golf experience was qualifying for her first U.S. Women's Open in 2012. When she is not playing golf, Khang likes to fish and snowboard. She goes by the nickname 'Pooh-Pooh.'
Attended Rockland (Mass.) High School. She won the 2014 FCWT at Red Tail and was runner-up at the AJGA Annika Invitational after rounds of 74-71-70. In 2013, she won the FCWT at Red Tail and had three runner-up finishes at the Scott Robertson Memorial, the Doral-Publix Junior Golf Classic, and the Junior Orange Bowl International Championship. She was named a 2013 AJGA First-Team All-American. Won the 2012 Connecticut Women's Open and her third consecutive FCWT Red Tail. Finished 4th at the 2012 Doral-Publix Junior and 3rd at the Junior Orange Bowl. Won the 2011 WGAM Junior Championship, New England Junior PGA Championship, FCWT TPC Sawgrass Stadium, and FCWT Support Rhode Island. Was runner-up at the 2011 Francis Ouimet Memorial Tournament and the Massachusetts Women's Open. Played in the U.S. Girls' Junior Championship from 2009-13. Competed in the 2009 U.S. Girls' Junior Championship at the age of 11, becoming the youngest qualifier in championship history. Was 11 years, 8 months, 28 days. She reached the quarterfinals in 2010 (losing to eventual champion Doris Chen); and the semifinals in 2013 (losing to eventual champion Gabriella Then). A three-time consecutive Player of the Year award winner in the U.S. Challenge Cup Golf Foundation.
2013 Notes: She became the first female overall winner of the Faldo Golf Series Grand Final at The Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va. Khang won by two shots over Paul Kinnear of England, who won the Boys under-21 division. Khang also won the Girls U-16 division. She was also the first American overall winner in the event's history. Was runner-up at the 2013 Junior Orange Bowl and the 2013 Scott Robertson Memorial.
2014 Notes: She was 2nd at the 2014 World Junior Girls Championship, one stroke back of winner Mika Liu at Angus Glen G.C. in Ontario. She teamed up with Angel Yin and Mika Liu to win the team title in the United States. She won the 2014 Doral-Publix Junior Classic. She played in her second U.S. Women's Open, missing the cut.
2015 Notes: She was the low amateur at the U.S. Women's Open, finishing T-35th, one shot better than Mariel Galdiano. She won the Women's Eastern Amateur by six shots. Won the Connecticut Women's Open by a record nine shots over Ashlan Ramsay. She did not attend college and completed all three stages of LPGA Qualifying School, finishing T-6th to earn her Tour card for 2016 at age 18. She was 3-0 in the Junior Solheim Cup to lead the U.S. team to victory.
2016 Notes: Played in 28 LPGA events, making 17 cuts with two top-10 finishes. She shared the 36-hole lead at the season-opening Pure Silk Bahamas LPGA Classic and eventually finished T-11th in her first start as an LPGA member. She had her career-best T-4th at the Founders Cup, shooting four rounds in the 60s to finish eight shots back of winner Sei Young Kim. Another top-10 with a T-7th at the LOTTE Championship. She was 57th on the money list with $336,016 and 46th in CME Points. She was second in the Rookie of the Year race to In Gee Chun.
2017 Notes: Played in 32 LPGA events, making 23 cuts. Her 32 starts were the most by any player on tour. Khang had four top-10 finishes, including T-3rd at the Blue Bay LPGA, T-8th at the Thornberry Creek LPGA, T-9th Cambia Portland Classic, and T-10th at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship. She was 43rd on the money list.
2018 Notes: Played in 29 LPGA Tour events, making 22 cuts with six top-ten finishes. She was T-5th at the Bank of America Founders Cup and 5th at the Kingsmill Championship, two shots back of the playoff. She also finished 6th at the LPGA Volvik Championship, 4 shots back of winner Minjee Lee. Best finish of the year was T-4th at the Swinging Skirts LPGA Taiwan Championship, 5 shots back of winner Nelly Korda. She was a career-best 35th on the money list, earning $614,164, and was 37th in the Race to CME.
2019 Notes: Played in 14 LPGA Tour events, making 13 cuts with seven top-ten finishes. Finished 32nd on the money list with $646,367 in earnings and was 34th on the CME points list. With a final-round 66 she finished 8th at the Honda LPGA Thailand. She was T-5th at the LPGA Mediheal Championship. Was T-10th at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship and T-6th at the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational with partner Annie Park. Finished T-8th at The Evian Championship, T-7th at the Buick LPGA Shanghai, and T-4th at the Indy Women in Tech Championship. She played in the Solheim Cup and was 0-2-1; she halved her singles match with Charley Hull.
2020 Notes: Played in 14 LPGA tour events, making 13 cuts with one top-ten finish. She was 30th on the money list with $377,242 in earnings and finished 39th on the CME points list. Finished 5th at the U.S. Women's Open, four back of winner A Lim Kim.
2021 Notes: Played in 20 LPGA Tour events, making 18 cuts with four top-ten finishes. She was 26th on the money list with $723,799 and 40th in CME points.
T-8th at the LPGA Drive On Championship at Golden Ocala and T-10th at the ANA Inspiration. She had another great U.S. Women's Open, finishing 4th two shots back of the Yuka Saso/Nasa Hataoka playoff. Up to this point, it was her best finish in a major championship. Finished the year with a T-5 at the CME Group Tour Championship.
2022 Notes: Played in 24 LPGA Tour events, making 20 cuts with six top-ten finishes. She was 26th on the money list with $1,025,005 in earnings and was 24th in CME points. She was T-3rd at the Palos Verdes Championship, two shots behind the winner Marina Alex. In her next start, she finished T-6th at the Cognizant Founders Cup. Finished in the top ten at the U.S. Women's Open for the third straight year at T-8th with a 67 in the second round. Shot a final round 64 at the Dana Open on the way to finishing 2nd, a shot back of the winner, Gaby Lopez. She was T-10th at the Kroger Queen City Championship and T-5th at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship, four shots back of the Atthaya Thitikul/Danielle Kang playoff. Finished T-21st in the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship.
2023 Notes: Played in 21 LPGA Tour events, making 19 cuts with seven top-ten finishes. She was 18th on the money list with $1,486,310 in earnings and was 20th in CME points. Waa T-9th at the Chevron Championship and Amundi Evian Championship. In between those events was T-3rd at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship. Despite shooting 74 in the first round, she shot 67-67 over the weekend and was two shots back of the winner, Ruoning Yin. She was T-9th at the Amundi Evian Championship. She won the CPKC Women's Open for her first LPGA victory. Khang led by three shots going into the final round. On Sunday, she shot 74 and needed a birdie at the last hole to force a playoff against Jin Young Ko. She won on the first playoff hole with a par. The win clinched Khang's spot on the U.S. Solheim Cup team and was 3-0-1 in the matches, her 3.5 points being the most for the U.S. in the 14-14 tie. She was 6th at the Portland Classic, 9th at the Maybank Championship, and T-7th at the Annika Driven by Gainbridge at Pelican. At the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship was T-36th.
2024 Notes: Played in 22 LPGA Tour events, making 16 cuts with five top-ten finishes. She was 52nd on the money list with $789,775 in earnings and was 27th in CME points. Was 3rd at the LPGA Drive On Championship, finishing three shots back of the Nelly Korda/Lydia Ko playoff. She was T-2nd in the ShopRite LPGA Classic, one back of winner Linnea Strom, who shot 60 in the final round. She went into the final round of the ISPS Handa Women's Scottish Open one shot back of the leader, but shot 74 to finish T-3rd, six shots back of the winner Lauren Coughlin. She was named to the U.S. Solheim Cup team for the fourth time and was 3-0-0 in the U.S. win. Khang beat Emily Pedersen in her singles match, 6 & 5. Was T-8th at the BMW Ladies Championship and Annika Driven. At the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship, and finished T-22nd.
2025 Notes: Shot a final round 62 to finish 3rd at the Founders Cup. five shots back of the winner, Yealimi Noh. Finished 2nd at the Dow Championship with partner Lexi Thompson. They lost on the first playoff hole to Jin Hee Im and Somi Lee. Thompson hit her drive on the par-3 playoff hole to 5 feet of the hole, but Khang missed the putt, and Lee made her team?s 8-foot birdie putt for the win.
