Oliver Wilson

Born in Mansfield, he played college golf at Augusta State University. He played in the victorious 2003 Walker Cup team, turned professional in 2003 and graduated from the Challenge Tour a year later. After recording nine runner-up finishes on the European Tour, Wilson finally became a winner at the 2014 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship following several years of being close to winning. Those near-misses came between 2006 and 2009, and the Englishman earned a place in the world's top 50, not to mention a Ryder Cup debut in 2008 (record 1-1-0 as the only European to qualify for the team without a victory. On a charitable front, he has pledged his support to Dare UK, the British arm of a worldwide anti-drugs educational program, and is also a Youth Ambassador for the Golf Foundation.
In 2013 he was in the midst of a slump and things got worse when he was forced off the tour for 2 months with a broken wrist while avoiding being hit by a snowball. When he came back his game wasn't the same and he dropped further into his slump. He almost quit the game until he got an invitational to play in the 2014 Alfred Dunhill Links at St. Andrews. Wilson arrived in Scotland greatly encouraged by some coaching advice from Robert Rock, who runs his own driving range in his spare time and loves teaching almost as much as he does playing. Even so, Wilson had no great expectations just hoping for a top-30. Instead, he played a fairytale 72 holes to win for the first time. So instead of quitting, he was back on tour, but little did he realize it would be his last top-ten on the European Tour as things again slipped.
2015 Notes: He was 165th in the race to Dubai, in 25 starts he only made 6 cuts. Best finish was T-34th at the Trophee Hassan II.
2016 Notes: In 28 European Tour starts he only made 9 cuts and was 175th in the Race to Dubai. Best finish T-26th at the Made in Denmark
2017 Notes: He lost his European Tour card and only played in 7 events making the cut in just 3, best finish T-52nd in the Lyoness Open. He played in 15 events on the Challenge Tour but only made 5 cuts, best finish T-45th at the Barclays Kenya Open.
2018 Notes: Not many options for him, played in just 3 European Tour events making one cut T-29th at the Porsche European Open. Played in 16 events on the Challenge Tour he made 12 cuts with three top-ten finishes. Two of them were wins at the Swedish Challenge and Monaghan Irish Challenge
2019 Notes: Was T-3rd at the South African Open and the next week T-5th at the Alfred Dunhill Challenge. At the Qatar Masters was T-2nd 2 shots back of winner Justin Harding. Was T-8th at the Betfred British Masters and then T-4th at the Made in Denmark.
