Richie Ramsay

Born and brought up in Aberdeen, he has been playing golf since the age of three. Away from golf, he studied at the University of Stirling after spending time in Texas on a golf scholarship, graduating with a BA Hons in Marketing and Sports Studies.
In 2006, Ramsay won the U.S. Amateur, defeating American John Kelly 4 & 2 in the 36-hole final. He was the first British player to win the championship since 1911 and the first Scot since 1898. He also won several other amateur titles and played in the 2005 Walker Cup for Great Britain and Ireland. Before turning professional, he achieved the accolade of becoming the first amateur golfer to be officially ranked World Number One when the first official amateur ranking was released on January 23, 2007. He also played in the 2007 Masters Tournament, U.S. Open, and Open Championship, for which he had qualified through his U.S. Amateur victory.
Ramsay turned professional in 2007 and played two seasons on the European Challenge Tour, winning twice in 2008. He finished 8th on the end-of-season rankings that year to graduate to the elite European Tour for 2009.
His first win came at the 2010 South African Open Championship, where he beat Shiv Kapur in a playoff. His next win came at the 2012 Omega European Masters, where he won thanks to stunning weekend rounds of 64 and 66.

He finished 70th in the race to Dubai, his euro 459,252 in earnings was his lowest total since joining the European Tour in 2009. The reason was likely the two bulging discs in his neck which had affected his game. On top of that, he had some hip problems, along with a sore ankle and shoulder pain. So after playing in the Turkish Airlines Open, he took four months off
2014 Notes: Didn't start on tour till March, played in 22 events, and made 15 cuts with 6 top-10s. He doubled his winnings from the previous year earning euro 928,827, and finished 43rd in the Race to Dubai. For most of the year, he was pain-free.
2015 Notes: Played in 23 events and finished 14 times in the money. He did not make a cut until his sixth start at the Trophee Hassan. 2016 Notes: Played in 24 events on the European Tour, making 18 cuts with three top-10 finishes. Best was T-6th at the Volvo China Open and T-6th at the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open.
