Richy Werenski

Comes from a family of avid golfers. Father, Michael, was formerly a PGA club professional. Brother, Mickey, played on the Texas A&M golf team. Grew up next door to The Orchards GC in South Hadley,
Massachusetts, his earliest golf memory is going to Orlando, Fla., for the "Drive, Chip & Putt" national finals at ages 10 and 12. He played college golf at Georgia Tech and won the 2012 Porter Cup.
Werenski turned professional after graduating from Georgia Tech in 2014. He won his first two professional events, the Cutter Creek Classic on the NGA Pro Golf Tour and the Vermont Open, and added another NGA Pro Golf Tour win in July 2014. At the end of the year was T-43rd at Korn Ferry Tour Q-School.
2015 Korn Ferry Tour Summary: Tournaments Entered - 20; In Money - 14; Top-10 Finishes - 0; Scoring Average - 69.94 (Rank 21st); Money - $62,0861 (Rank 79th); Best Finish, T-11th Rex Hospital Open. Was forced to return to Q-School finishing T-34th. Werenski won Golf Channel's reality show Big Break The Palm Beaches earlier in the year. As the winner of The Big Break, he earned entry into the Barbasol Championship, finishing T-72nd in his first PGA Tour event.
2016 Korn Ferry Tour Summary: Tournaments Entered - 22; In Money - 10; Top-10 Finishes - 4; Scoring Average - 70.09 (Rank 49th); Money - $351,770 (Rank 2nd); Finals Money - $3,050 (99th); Priority Rank (6th); Best Finish, winner BMW Charity Pro-Am. Also had three runner-up finishes: Colombia Championship, Mexico Championship & Price Cutter Charity. Was able to get his PGA Tour card for 2017.
2017 Notes: Played in 26 PGA Tour events making 16 cuts. Had 3 top-ten finishes, best was 2nd at the Barracuda Championship, losing on the second hole to Chris Stroud. Finished 106th in the FedExCup race.
2018 Notes: Played in 32 PGA Tour events making 17 cuts with two top-ten finishes. Had his best finish since his runner-up finishes in the 2017 Barracuda as he finished T-4th at the FedEx St. Jude Classic, his first top-ten of the year. Was T-2nd at the Barbasol Championship a shot back of winner Troy Merritt. Got into the FedExCup playoffs and missed the cut at the Northern Trust so he finished 110th in the FedExCup standings.
2019 Notes: Played in 27 PGA Tour events making 17 cuts with one top-ten finish. Was 126th in FedExCup standings. Shot 67s on the weekend at the Mayakoba Golf Classic to finish T-3rd, 3 shots back of winner Matt Kuchar. Went into the Wyndham Championship 127th in the FedExCup standings, finished T-39th but only went to 126th. So he went to Korn Ferry Finals was T-37th at the Nationwide Children's, missed the cut at the Albertsons Boise Open, and T-7th at the Korn Ferry Tour Champions. Was able to regain his PGA Tour card for 2020 when he finished 24th on the Korn Ferry Finals Points list.
2020 Notes: Played in 17 PGA Tour events making 12 cuts with three top-ten finishes. Was 39th on the FedExCup points list. Was T-3rd at the Military Tribute at The Greenbrier, seven shots back of winner Joaquin Niemann. Opened the 3M Open with a 63 and finished T-3rd, three shots back of winner Michael Thompson. Next week won the Barracuda Championship, he birdied the 72nd hole to beat Troy Merritt by a point and secure the final spot into the PGA Championship. Missed the cut at the PGA Championship, at the FedExCup playoffs was 68th at the Northern Trust, and T-20th at the BMW Championship.
2021 Notes: Was T-4th at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, he was five shots back of winner Bryson DeChambeau. 3rd at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, with partner Peter Uihlein they were a shot from the Marc Leishman/Cameron Smith vs Louis Oosthuizen/Charl Schwartzel playoff.
