Ruoning Yin

Yin was born in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China. Yin began learning to play golf when she was 10 and a half. She is known by her nickname, Ronni. Her father's hometown is Shanghai. At 16, she represented the Chinese women's national team at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, where she earned a bronze medal in the women's team event with Liu Wenbo and Du Mohan. She also represented her country at the 2018 Espirito Santo Trophy, where her team finished 4th among 57 nations, behind the United States, Japan, and South Korea. She played in her first LPGA Tour event at the 2019 Buick LPGA Shanghai, finishing T-38th.
Yin won nine titles as a junior amateur in 2019, including the National Amateur Championship, and reached a career-high of 64th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings.
Yin turned professional in 2020. She won the China LPGA Tour Qualifying Tournament and joined the China LPGA Tour, where she won her first three events in a row. She received two Guinness World Records titles: the most consecutive wins on the China LPGA Tour and the most consecutive wins on the China LPGA Tour from her professional debut. Missed the cut in her first major at the 2021 U.S. Women's Open. In December of 2021, she finished T-4th at the LPGA Q-Series to earn an LPGA Tour membership for 2022.
2022 Notes: Played in 16 LPGA Tour events, making seven cuts with one top-ten. Yin was 84th in the CME rankings and 99th on the money list, earning $170,140. Her best finish was at the Dana Open, where she opened with a 65 to take the first-round lead?finished with rounds of 69-68-67 to finish T-4th, three shots back of winner Gaby Lopez and get her first LPGA top-ten.
2023 Notes. Played in 21 LPGA Tour events, making 19 cuts with nine top-ten finishes. Yin was 3rd in the CME rankings and 4th on the money list, earning $2,894,677. She won the DIO Implant L.A. Open at the season's second start and 20th LPGA start. Yin shot a second-round 64 to take the lead and led after a third-round 67. Shot 70 in the final round to beat Georgia Hall by a shot; Hall missed a six-foot putt to force a playoff. Yin joined Shanshan Feng as one of the two LPGA winners from China. Finished T-4th at the JM Eagle L.A. Championship, Yin bogeyed her final two holes to miss the Hannah Green/Xiyu Lin/Aditi Ashok by a shot. She was a member of China's team at the Hanwha Lifeplus International Crown and was 1-2 in the matches. Won again at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship, Yin shot a bogey-free final round 67, making a 10-foot birdie putt on the 72nd hole to win. by a shot over Yuka Saso. It was Yin's fourth major start as she joined Feng, who won the 2012 Wegmans LPGA Championship, as the second player from China to win a women's major. Shot a final round 66 at the Freed Group Women's Scottish Open to finish 3rd, three shots back of the winner Celine Boutier. She was 3rd again at the CPKC Women's Open, shot a final round 66, and was two shots back of the Megan Khang/Jin Young Ko playoff. Next week, again, 66 were shot in the final round to finish T-3rd at the Portland Classic, with six shots back from the winner Chanettee Wannasaen. The next week, she finished 3rd again (that's four 3rd place finishes in six weeks) at the Kroger Queen City Championship, two shots back of the Minjee Lee/Charley Hull playoff. She ended her season T-7th at the Annika Driven by Gainbridge at Pelica and T-6th at the CME Group Tour Championship.
2024 Notes: Played in 20 LPGA Tour events, making 18 cuts with seven top-ten finishes. Yin was 5th in the CME rankings and 7th on the money list, earning $2,783,307. She was T-8th at the Fir HillS Seri Pak Championship, was T-4th at the Cognizant Founders Cup, six shots back of the winner Rose Zhang. Teamed with Atthaya Thitikul to win the Dow Championship. Thitikul birdied the 72nd hole for the one-shot victory over Ally Ewing and Jennifer Kupcho. She played at the Paris Olympics as a member of China's women's golf team, finishing T-10th. Yin was T-2nd at the AIG Women's Open, two shots back of the winner, Lydia Ko. After a break of six weeks, she shot 63-64 over the weekend to win the Buick LPGA Shanghai by six shots. Yin
won for the third time, and the second time in three weeks, at the Maybank Championship. Yin went bogey-free in her last three rounds and shot 65 on Sunday for a 23-under 265 total to beat Jeeno Thitikul by a shot. Yin had seven birdies in the final round, but her birdie on the par-5 18th secured the title. She ended her season by finishing 4th at the CME Group Tour Championship.
2025 Notes: After a slow start, but had a good run in May. She was T-2nd in the Chevron Championship, losing in a playoff to Mao Saigo, who made a birdie on the first extra hole. ? She had her second straight runner-up finish with a T-2nd at the Black Desert Championship, shooting 62 in round three and finishing five back of winner Haeran Ryu. After a T-15th at the Mizuho Americans, was T-4th at the U.S. Women's Open, three shots back of the winner Maja Stark.
