Ryo Ishikawa

Father, Katsumi, was a banker and an avid golfer. Ishikawa started playing the game when he was 7. Known by the nickname "Hanikami Oji" (literally, "Bashful Prince"). In May 2007, Ishikawa became the youngest winner ever of a men's regular tournament on any of the major tours by winning the Munsingwear Open KSB Cup on the Japan Tour at the age 15 years and 8 months. He competed as an amateur and it was Ishikawa's first tour appearance. He finished one shot ahead of Japan's 9th-ranked player at the time, Katsumasa Miyamoto. Ishikawa turned professional in 2008 and won another Japan Tour tournament, the Mynavi ABC Championship.
By the close of 2008, he had become the youngest player to reach the top 100 of the Official World Golf Ranking and also the youngest player to win 100 million yen in a season on the Japan Tour. Won four Japan Tour tournaments in 2009 and three in 2010, finishing first and third on the money list. Shot a 58 in the final round to win The Crowns tournament. Played on the 2009 and 2011 Presidents Cup Teams.

2010 Notes: Shot a final-round, 12-under 58 to win The Crowns title on the Japan Tour. The 58 was the lowest official score shot on a major professional tour. Trailing Shigeki Maruyama by six strokes entering the final round, birdied nine of the first 11 holes and Nos.14-16 at the 6,545-yard Nagoya G.C. in Togo, Japan, to win by five strokes.
2011 Japan PGA Tour Summary: Tournaments entered - 22; in money - 18; Top-10 finishes -7; scoring average - 70.09 (ranked 3rd); Money - yen98,282,603 or $1,282,142, (ranked 3rd); Best finish, 2nd Totoumi Hamamatsu Open and T-2 Vana H Cup KBC Augusta.
2011 Notes: In March, he pledged to donate all of his season earnings to help the survivors of the March 11 earthquake and tsunami that devastated Japan's Pacific coast. He also donated $1,200 for every birdie he made... The youngest player on either Presidents Cup squad, he posted a 2-2-0 record for International Team, including a singles victory over Dustin Johnson.
2012 Japan PGA Tour Summary: Tournaments entered - 19; in money - 16; Top-10 finishes -8; scoring average - 70.49 (ranked T-5); Money - yen76,881,934 or $936,214, (ranked 7th); Best finish, Win Sumitomo VISA Taiheiyo Masters.
2012 Notes: 2nd at Puerto Rico Open his career PGA Tour best in his 31st career start. Previous best finish on Tour was T-4 at the 2011 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational. He earned enough money to qualify for PGA Tour membership for 2013 as he finished in the top 125 on the 2012 PGA Tour money list as a non-member.
2013 Notes: Only had one top-10 in 23 events, T-10 at the Byron Nelson Championship. Finished the year 141st in the FedEx Cup race and 149th in the money race. Got his PGA Tour card for 2014 when he finished high in the Web.Com Tour playoffs. 2014 Notes: Had his best season on the PGA Tour, in 24 starts made 14 cuts and finished 72nd in the FedEx Cup standings and 76th on the money list. Had a T-2nd at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, T-7th at Farmers Insurance and T-8th at Arnold Palmer Invitational. Also played a full schedule on the Japan Tour.
2014 Japan PGA Tour Summary: Tournaments entered - 10; in money - 10; Top-10 finishes -2; scoring average - 71.05 (ranked 20th); Money - yen52,856,504 or $444,210, (ranked 19th); Best finish, Win Nagashima Shigeo Invitational.
2015 Notes: Played in 28 PGA Tour events making 17 cuts with two top-ten finishes. Was 122nd in the FedExCup standings. Finished T-8th at the Players Championship and 10th in the Quicken Loans National. In the FedExCup playoffs was T-66th in the Northern Trust.
