Scott Hoch

Played on Wake Forest's 1975 NCAA Championship team. Runner-up in 1978 U.S. Amateur, falling to John Cook in the final at Plainfield (N.J.) C.C.
Won the 1986 Vardon Trophy. Donated $100,000 of his Las Vegas winnings in 1989 to the Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital in Orlando.
Between 1982 and 1991, he finished in the top 40 on the PGA Tour money list every year until the streak ended in 1992 when he was injured and required surgery to repair a shoulder injury. Finished in the top 40 again between 1993 and 2002. In 2003, suffered a nagging wrist injury and then sprained left wrist during the 2004 PGA Championship.
Member of 1994, 1996, and 1998 Presidents Cup Teams. Member of the 1997 and 2001 Ryder Cup Teams. Became the second-oldest (after Lee Elder) Ryder Cup rookie in 1997. A full-time member of the PGA Tour from 1980 to 2004, he played in 644 events, made 498 cuts, and notched 163 top-10 finishes with 11 victories and 17 runner-up finishes.
Joined the PGA Tour Champions in 2006. Owns three PGA Tour Champions victories, including the 2007 FedEx Kinko's Classic, 2008 Allianz Championship, and 2008 ACE Group Classic.
After his 2008 season, he played in 12 events in 2009, missing the second half of the year with recurring issues with his left wrist that required surgery in October 2009.
2010 Notes: Finished third at the ACE Group Classic thanks to three consecutive sub-par rounds in windy conditions in Naples. Had just one bogey over his final 36 holes.
2011 Notes: Returned to the PGA Tour Champions for the first time in more than a year when he played at the Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am (T-25th) in April. The week following his return to Tampa, he teamed with Kenny Perry and lost in a playoff at the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf when they both missed short par putts on the second playoff hole, giving the Legends Division title to Mark McNulty and David Eger. Was also T-16th at the Regions Tradition.
2012 Notes: Did not play in an event due to a fourth surgery in March on his left hand, which entailed replacing a deteriorated bone with a tendon.
2013 Notes: After missing all of the 2012 season following left-hand surgery and portions of the three previous seasons with various health issues, he returned to play in 20 events. This was the most starts he had in a season since 2008. Had his best stretch of golf in September, finishing T-5th, T-9th and T-13th in successive tournaments. Sandwiched a pair of 65s around a second-round 70 to finish T-5th at the inaugural Shaw Charity Classic.
2014 Notes: Made 13 starts with a pair of top-10 finishes. Had his best effort in his final start of the year at the AT&T Championship, finishing T-4th. Earlier in the year, he was T-6th at the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic. Following that outing, he had assorted ailments and did not play again until mid-July when he competed at the U.S. Senior Open at Oak Tree National in Edmond, Okla., and finished T-33rd. Was 56th on the money list and 53rd in the Schwab Rankings.
2015 Notes: Competed in 21 events, the most he has played in a season since 2008 when he played in 25 events. Had three top-10 finishes with a T-6th showing at the Tucson Conquistadores Classic, the best of the three. At the San Antonio Championship finished T-7th and shot a final round 4-under-par 66 at the U.S. Senior Open in Sacramento to finish T-10-thy Was 9th on the money list and 38th in the Schwab rankings.
2016 Notes: Played in 19 events had two top-tens, a T-6th at the Chubb Classic and T-10th at the Bass Pro Stops Legends (with partner Kenny Perry). Finished 61st on the money list and 62nd on the Schwab Rankings.
2017 Notes: Played in just 7 events, the fewest he's played since 2010, best finish was T-10th at the Chubb Classic.
2018 Notes: Played in ten PGA Tour Champions events, best finish T-10th at the 3M Championship. Was 86th in the Charles Schwab Cup.
2019 Notes: Played in 12 PGA Tour Champions events with one top-ten finish. Was 64th on the Schwab rankings. At the age of 63 years, 5 months, 4 days, became the oldest player in PGA Tour Champions' history to win when he shared a five-shot victory with Tom Pernice Jr. at the Bass Pro Shops Legends of Golf at Big Cedar Lodge. Hoch now holds the largest time between victories with a span of 11 years, 2 months, and 11 days between his last win at the 2008 Chubb Classic and this victory. His best individual start was T-47th in the Cologuard Classic.
2020 & 2021 Notes: Best finish T-19th at the Ally Challenge.
