Steve Flesch

Winner of the 1986 and '88 Kentucky Amateur. Winner 1991 Kentucky Open. Played in the 1986 U.S. Amateur, losing in the Round of 64. . . He played on the Asian Tour in 1993 and was fifth on the Order of Merit. Was runner-up in the Thailand Open and 3rd in the Singapore Open. On the Asian Tour in 1994 was 8th on the Order of Merit. Began playing golf right-handed before switching over to natural left side. One of only two left-handers (the other is Vic Wilk) to win on the Nike Tour. 1998 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year.

2011 PGA Tour Summary: Tournaments entered - 27; Rounds Played - 88; in money - 17; top -10 Finishes - 1; money $594,622 Rank (134th); Best finish: T-3rd Reno-Tahoe Open. He was a member of the PGA Tour's Player Advisory Council and was starting to suffer from being burnt out on playing golf. At the same time, he started working as an analyst for Golf Channel.
In 2012 played in 12 events and didn't make a cut. After that, he became a part-time player in 2015 and had his best finish since 2011 with a T-7th finish at the Barracuda Championship.
2017 Notes: Joined the Tour in May, shortly after turning 50, and competed in 16 Champions Tour events. Finished with 10 top-25 finishes, including a trio of top-10 efforts (5th Constellation Senior Players, T-5th Principal Charity, and T-7th Pacific Links Bear Mountain Championship). Advanced to two rounds of the Charles Schwab Cup playoffs but failed to advance to the final event after finishing 39th on the money list.
2018 Notes: Played in 17 PGA Tour Champions events with two top-ten finishes. Earned his first title on PGA Tour Champions Tour in a two-hole playoff victory over Bernhard Langer and Scott Parel at the Mitsubishi Electric Classic. He finished 11-under-par for the tournament after a 38-hole final day, consisting of two rounds with two playoff holes. It was his first victory since the 2007 Turning Stone Resort Championship, and he became the 14th player with wins on the Korn Ferry Tour, PGA Tour, and PGA Tour Champions Tour. Next week was T-5th with partner David Toms at the Bass Pro Shops Legends of Golf. In early September, Flesch had surgery to repair two bulging discs in his lower neck and was forced off the Tour after the Shaw Charity Classic (He didn't return in 2018). He was 33rd on the money list through his final tournament of the year (Shaw Charity Classic), finishing 49th in the final Charles Schwab Cup standings.
2019 Notes: Played in 26 PGA Tour Champions events with seven top-ten finishes. He was 17th on the Schwab rankings. He returned in the first event of the year Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai, and finished T-29th. He was T-5th at the Hoag Classic 2 shots back of the Triplett/Austin playoff. He was 10th in the Bridgestone Senior Players. In the Shaw Charity Classic, finished 3rd, two shots back of winner Wes Short, Jr. Was T-3rd at the Ally Challenge, four shots back of winner Jerry Kelly. He was T-5th at Sanford International, 3 shots back of winner Rocco Mediate. Finished T-9th at Pure Insurance Championship and T-8th at the Dominion Energy Charity. Ended his season with a T-14th finish at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship.
2020 & 2021 Notes: Played in 37 PGA Tour Champions events with 11 top-ten finishes. He was 11th on the Schwab rankings. He was T-10th at the 2020 Hoag Classic. Shot a final-round 63 to finish 2nd at Sanford International, a shot back of winner Miguel Angel Jimenez. He was T-6th at the Pure Insurance Championship, four shots back of the Furyk/Kelly playoff. Shot a final-round 66 to finish T-7th at the TimberTech Championship. In 2021 was 2nd at the Shaw Charity Classic, shot 65-65 over the weekend, and was two shots back of winner Doug Barron. Finished T-4th at the Ally Challenge, shot 64 in the final round, and was three shots back of winner Joe Durant. Finished runner-up at the Sanford International for the second consecutive year. Shot 67-65-66 to earn a spot in a playoff with Darren Clarke and K.J. Choi but was eliminated after a bogey on the first sudden-death hole. At the Pure Insurance Championship was 9th, then 3rd at the Furyk & Friends to finish five shots back of winner Phil Mickelson. He was 3rd at the Dominion Energy Charity Classic, was leading by two going into the final round but shot 73, and was two back of the Bernhard Langer/Doug Barron playoff. In the season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship, Flesch finished T-7th, four shots back of winner Phil Mickelson.
2022 Notes: Played in 24 PGA Tour Champions events with three top-ten finishes. He was 11th in the Schwab rankings and 11th on the money list earning $1,112,578. Won the Mitsubishi Electric Classic, shot 65 on Sunday made up a four-shot deficit, beating Padraig Harrington, Fred Couples, and David Toms by a shot. Won again at the Pure Insurance Championship, was a shot better than Ernie Els. In the season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship, finishing T-22nd.
2023 Notes: Best finish T-14th at the Insperity Invitational.
