Sung Hyun Park

Park started playing golf at the age of 9. She joined the LPGA Tour of Korea (KLPGA) in 2014 and finished 34th on the money list with three top-10 finishes. She won for the first time in 2015 at the Korean Women's Open, one of three wins of the year. She won twice more in 2016 at the Hyundai China Ladies Open and Samchully Together Open.
2015 Notes: She made her LPGA debut at the 2015 Hana Bank LPGA Championship and shot 62 in the first round. She shared the lead after three rounds with Lydia Ko and eventually finished T-2nd one shot behind Lexi Thompson. She won three times on the Korean LPGA Tour in 2015, including the Korean Women's Open.
2016 Notes: She was the dominant player on the Korean LPGA, with seven victories, starting with the season-opening China Ladies Open in December 2015. She won twice in April, once in May, twice in August, and once in September. Included in her victories is the Doosan Match Play Championship. On the LPGA Tour, Park cut all seven of her starts, including four majors. She was T-6th at the ANA Inspiration, T-3rd at the U.S. Women's Open, and 2 out of the playoff won by Brittany Lang. Park shot 66 in round two and led after 36 holes but shot 74-74 on the weekend. She was T-50th at the RICOH Women's British Open and T-2nd at the Evian Championship, shooting 21-under 267, 4 back of winner In Gee Chun. Park shot an opening-round 63 for her third top-10 finish in a major championship. Earned LPGA membership for the 2017 season via category 10 (non-member Top 40) on the LPGA Priority List.
2017 Notes: In 23 LPGA starts made the cut 23 times. In her rookie year on the LPGA Tour, she won the U.S. Women's Open and then again a month later at the Canadian Pacific Women's Open. She finished 3rd in the HSBC Women's Champions in her first start as an LPGA member. She was 3 shots back of winner Inbee Park. Was T-4th at the KIA Classic and 4th at the VOA Texas Shootout. She was T-2nd at the Volvik Championship, a shot back of Shanshan Feng. Then her incredible win at the Women's Open: she was T-21st, 7 shots back of leader Shanshan Feng going into the weekend, and with rounds of 67-67, won by 2 shots over amateur Hye-Jin Choi. Her CP Women's Open win was almost as dramatic as she was T-12th, 4 back going into the final round, and shot 64 for the 2-shot win over Mirim Lee. She also ended her year on a good note, finishing 2nd at the LPGA KEB HanaBank Championship, T-5th at the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia, T-3rd at the Blue Bay LPGA, and then T-6th at the CME Group Tour Championship. With that was the co-winner of the LPGA Player of the year with So Yeon Ryu and was Rookie of the Year. Park became the first player to win Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year awards in the same year since Nancy Lopez in 1978. She also became the fastest player in LPGA history to reach $2 million in career earnings at 7 months and 13 days (19 starts) and the fastest to reach $1 million following her U.S. Women's Open victory at 4 months and 14 days (14 starts). She moved to #1 on the Rolex Rankings on Nov. 6. She lost the #1 ranking a week later to Shanshan Feng after the Blue Bay LPGA. Feng won the Blue Bay, while Park finished T-3rd.
2018 Notes: Played in 24 LPGA events making 17 cuts with seven top-ten finishes Was the 36-hole leader at the ANA Inspiration, she went on to finish T-9th. She won for the first time in 2018 at the Volunteers of America LPGA Texas Classic, shooting 11-under 131 in the 36-hole, rain-shortened event to beat Lindy Duncan by 1 shot. She holed two chip shots in the final round, including chipping in on the final hole for the winning birdie. Won for the second time at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship, beating So Yeon Ruy and Nasa Hataoka in a playoff. Won her third event of the year at the Indy Women in Tech Championship, beating Lizette Salas in a playoff. The win moved Park to #1 on the Rolex Rankings. She spent 10 weeks at #1 before being replaced in October. She was a member of the Korean team in the UL International Crown and went 2-2-0 in the matches as the Korean team won the title. She was 3rd on the money list with $1,498,077 and 6th in the Race to CME.
2019 Notes: Played in 20 LPGA Tour events making 17 cuts with 7 top-eight finishes. Was 7th on the money list with $1,529,905 in earnings and was 6th on the CME points list. Won the HSBC Women's Champions shooting a final round 64. She beat Minjee Lee by 2 shots and moved back into the #1 spot on the Rolex Rankings. She won the Country Club Ladies Invitational in the Philippines in March, a Taiwan LPGA event. She was T-2nd at the Kia Classic, 3 shots back of winner Nasa Hataoka. The next week finished T-52nd at the ANA Inspiration and lost her #1 ranking to Jin Young Ko, who won that week. Was T-2nd at the KIA Classic, three shots back of winner Nasa Hataoka. Was 2nd at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship, one shot back of winner Hannah Green. Next week won at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship, she shot 63 in the second round to take the lead, and with a final round 66 won by a shot over Hyo Joo Kim, Inbee Park, and Danielle Kang. Was T-6th at the Thornberry Creek LPGA Classic, T-6th at The Evian Championship, and 8th at the AIG Women's Open.
2020 Notes: She entered the year #1 in the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings. Played in 7 LPGA Tour events making five cuts. She was 88th on the money list with $98,187 in earnings, she was 93rd in CME points list. Because of COVID-19, she was in Korea and played once, missing the cut at the KLPGA Championship. In May she played in a challenge match against Jin Young Ko and the match ended with a tie, both players getting $43,400. Didn't play her first LPGA event of the year until September, finishing T-40th at the ANA Inspiration. For the year, her best start was 17th at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship. She ended her worst year on the LPGA, missing the cut at the U.S. Women's Open.
2021 Notes: Played in 19 LPGA events making nine cuts. She was 116th on the CME Points list and 1223rd on the money list with earnings of $69,353. Best finish T-15th at the Cambia Portland Open.
2022 Notes: Best finish T-15th at the ShopRite Classic.
