Tim Petrovic

He played on the University of Hartford golf team with Jerry Kelly and Patrick Sheehan. Upon turning professional in 1988, he played in mini-tour events until he got on the Korn Ferry tour in 1993.
1993 Korn FerryTour Summary: Tournaments entered - 13; in money - 4; top-10 finishes - 0; money $3,066 (ranked 167th); best finish T24th, Yuma Open. After that year returned to mini-tour events until he finished T-97th at PGA Tour Q-School in 1998. That got him a return trip to the Korn Ferry Tour in 1999.
1999 Korn Ferry Tour Summary: Tournaments entered - 23; rounds played - 80 ; in money - 18; top-10 finishes - 2; money $45,035 (ranked 63rd); best finish T4th, Tri-Cities Open. He lost his playing privileges and didn't get them back until he finished T-94th at PGA Tour Q-School in 2000.
2001 Korn Ferry Tour Summary: Tournaments entered - 23; rounds played - 80 ; in money - 18; top-10 finishes - 7; money $239,010 (ranked 7th); best finish T2nd at the Monterrey Open and Louisiana Open. Became the fourth player in Korn Ferry Tour history to earn more than $100,000 through the first four events. He did it in three starts (T2nd, T2nd, 3rd) since he missed the first event of the season. His 7th place finish on the money list got his PGA Tour card.
Petrovic played on the PGA Tour between 2002 and 2016. He played in 383 events and made 205 cuts. He had 26 top-10 finishes and won $12.2 million. Petrovic had six years of earnings of over a million dollars; the best year was 2005, when he won the Zurich Classic and finished 44th on the money list with $1,711,229.
He started to struggle in 2012, finishing 137th on the money list, which meant he split his time between the PGA Tour and the Korn Ferry Tour from 2013 to 2016. He played a total of 111 Korn Ferry events. He never won but finished 2nd twice in 2001 at the Monterrey Open and the Louisiana Open.
In 2015 finished 2nd at the Puerto Rico Classic, losing a playoff to Alex Cejka. It was his fifth career runner-up on the PGA Tour.
2016 Notes: In getting ready for the Champions Tour, he played in seven events on the PGA Tour, only making two cuts, and six events on the Korn Ferry Tour, only making one cut. On turning 50 in August, he made his PGA Tour Champions debut at the Boeing Classic, finishing T-18th, his best finish in 6 starts.
2017 Notes: He played in 14 events and got his first PGA Tour Champions top-10 with a T-7 finish at the Pacific Links Bear Mountain Championship. He was 62 on the money list and 63rd in Schwab Cup Ranking.
2018 Notes: Played in 23 PGA Tour Champions events with six top-10 finishes. With a final-round 64 finished T-2nd at the Chubb Classic, four shots back of winner Joe Durant. Was a co-leader after the first and third rounds of the Senior PGA Championship. He shot a final-round 69 to finish 2nd, his second runner-up finish of the season, and his $347,000 paycheck was the largest since he finished T-2nd at the 2012 Safeway Open ($440,000) on the PGA Tour and the 6th biggest check of his career. Was T-2nd at the U.S. Senior Open, a shot back of winner David Toms. He was T-5th at the 3M Championship, had his fourth runner-up finish at the Sanford International, and shot a final-round 65 to finish four shots back of Steve Stricker. He had his fifth runner-up finish at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship, four shots back of winner Vijay Singh who shot 61 in the final round. Had five runner-up finishes, including two at majors and one at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship. He finished 9th in the Charles Schwab Cup and was the highest-ranked player without a victory.
2019 Notes: Played in 24 PGA Tour Champions events with four top-ten finishes. He was 24th on the final Schwab rankings. He opened the Oasis Championship with a 7-under 65 followed by rounds of 74-68 to finish T-10th at 9-under 207. Finished T-2nd at the Bridgestone Senior Players Championship, two shots back of winner Retief Goosen. It was his fourth runner-up finish in a 72-hole event and sixth runner-up since the start of 2018. Shot 67-68 over the weekend to finish T-3rd at the Senior Open Championship, three shots back of winner Bernhard Langer. At the Charles Schwab Cup Championship, he finished T-21st.
2020 & 2021 Notes: Played in 34 PGA Tour Champions events with ten top-ten finishes. He was 15th on the final Schwab rankings. Carded rounds of 64-65-66 and finished 2nd, four shots behind Phil Mickelson, at the 2020 Charles Schwab Series at Ozarks National. He was T-7th at the TimberTech Championship. The 2021 Cologuard Classic was T-6th. He was T-4th at the 2021 Chubb Classic, two shots back of winner Steve Stricker. He was T-2nd at the Insperity Invitational, two shots back of winner Mike Weir. He was runner-up three weeks later at the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship, four shots back of winner Alex Cejka. He finished T-7th at the Boeing Classic, three shots back of winner Rod Pampling. He was T-4th at the Dominion Energy Charity, three shots out of the Bernhard Langer/Doug Barren playoff. Next week was T-4th again at the TimberTech Championship. In the second round, he shot 61, which was his career best. Ended his season with a T-32nd finish at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship.
2022 Notes: Played in 25 PGA Tour Champions events with four top-ten finishes. It was 36th in the Schwab Rankings and 33rd on the money list with earnings of $654,807. He opened his season, finishing 2nd at the Chubb Classic, three shots back of winner Bernhard Langer. He was T-9th at the Cologuard Classic and T-5th at the Hoag Classic. Finished T-9th at the Regions Tradition. The season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship was 29th.
2023 Notes: Played in 25 PGA Tour Champions events with three top-ten finishes. It was 43rd in the Schwab Rankings and 39th on the money list with earnings of $577,637. Finished T-4th at the Principal Charity Classic after rounds of 69-65-67. Playing in the second-to-last group on Sunday, he was tied for the lead as he played No. 18 but made a bogey on the hole. At the Shaw Charity Classic, Petrovic had the solo 18- and 36-hole lead after posting 62-66 in the first and second rounds; Petrovic entered the final round with a two-shot lead but shot a 1-under 69 to finish T-2nd, a shot back of the winner Ken Duke. The next week, he notched his second consecutive top-3 finish with a T-3rd at The Ally Challenge, two shots back of winner Vijay Singh. Closed with 66 after opening with back-to-back 69s. He ended his season with a T-34th finish at the TimberTech Championship.
2024 Notes: Played in 26 PGA Tour Champions events with three top-ten finishes. Was 34th on the Schwab Cup list with earnings of $754,031. Opened with 66 at the Mitsubishi Electric Classic before shooting 74-69 on the weekend to finish T-8th. Best finish, T-4ths at the Constellation Furyk & Friends and Dominion Energy Charity Classic.
2025 Notes: Played in 27 PGA Tour Champions events with four top-ten finishes. Was 34th on the Schwab Cup list with earnings of $706,791. Best finish, 6th at the Kaulig Companies Championship.
