Tjaart Van der Walt

Started playing age 14 before joining Alexander City Junior College, a part of Central Alabama Community College, from 1993-95. He decides at age 17 to specialize in golf.
He was 13th on the South American PGA Tour Final Order of Merit in 1996. Finished 9th on the Golden Bear Tour Final Order of Merit 1999. At the end of 1999 finished T-67th at the PGA Tour Q-School. Finish got him on the Web.Com Tour for 2000.

He was given a medical exemption for 2005 but still went back to Q-School and finished T-36th.
In 2005, he played in 19 events on the PGA Tour and lost a playoff at the Buick Championship to Brad Faxon. Thanks to that finish, his only top-25 finish for the year, he won $544,058 and was 135th on the money list. Had to go back to Q-School and withdrew.
In 2006, he played in 21 events and had one top-10, T-10th at FedEx St. Jude Classic. Earnings of $234,918 ranked 185th. That would be the last time he played on the PGA Tour.
In 2007 played on the Web.Com Tour. Tournaments entered - 21; rounds played - 66; in money - 12; top-10 finishes - 3; scoring average - 70.68 (ranked 40th); money - $137,709 (ranked 46th); Best finish, 4th Children's Hospital Invitational.
Played in three Web.Com Tour event, only making one cut, T-48th at Henrico County Open.

After spending most of the decade in America, he played in 2011 on the Asian Tour. His best finish in 10 events was T-2nd at Handa Singapore Classic. Also played in six events on the African tour, with a best finish of T-7th at the Joburg Open. He went back to the European Tour in 2012 after securing his card at the 2011 Qualifying School Final Stage, where he finished in 33rd.
2012 Notes: Played on the African, Asian and European Tours. In 26 starts, he had one top-10, 2nd at the Africa Open.
2013 Notes: Played mostly on the European Tour and some on the African Tour, were he won his first big tournament at the Lion of Africa Cape Town Open. Also was runner-up at the Najeti Hotels et Golfs Open on the European Challenge Tour. His best European finish was T-5th in the Africa Open. Was 129th in the Race to Dubai.
2014 Notes: Played on the European, Challenge and African Tours, with a best finish of T-7th at the Lion of Africa Cape Tour Open.
2015 Notes: He started the year with a T-8th finish in the Alfred Dunhill Championship, then had a T-3rd at the Tshwane Open.
