Vaughn Taylor

Taylor was raised in Augusta, Ga. After attending Hephzibah High School, he played golf for Augusta State University, where he was an honorable mention All-American his senior season. He continues to reside in the Augusta area with his wife, Leot. Qualified for the 1998 U.S. Open at The Olympic Club in San Francisco as an amateur. Posted rounds of 76-76 and missed the cut. Turned pro in 1999 and made it to the finals of the Qualifying tournament. Finished T-139th, which put him on the Korn Ferry Tour for 2000.

2003 Korn Ferry Tour Summary: Tournaments Entered - 17; Rounds Played - 50; In Money - 10; Top -10 Finishes - 5; Scoring Average - 70.12 (rank 15th); Money $223,988 (rank 11th); Best Finish ââ?¬â?? 1st, Knoxville Open. Began season with no status, but qualified for his first tournament at the Virginia Beach Open, and finished 2nd. Based on his top-25 finish, made it into the field the following week at the SAS Carolina Classic, where he posted his second consecutive runner-up finish. Broke through for his first career win on the Korn Ferry Tour at the Knoxville Open. His 11th-place finish on the money list got him onto the PGA Tour in 2004.
2004 Notes: One of five rookies to win on the PGA Tour, and one of four to earn more than $1 million in his first season. Claimed his first victory by rolling in an 11-foot birdie putt on the first extra hole to win a four-way playoff at the Reno-Tahoe Open.
2005 Notes: In defense of his 2004 Reno-Tahoe Open title, Taylor led wire-to-wire with rounds of 64-67-63-72, topping runner-up Jonathan Kaye by three shots. Jumped to 31st on the PGA Tour money list with a 3rd-place finish at the Deutsche Bank Championship, and ended the year 36th on the money list.
2006 Notes: Had six top-10 finishes and was a member of the 2006 U.S. Ryder Cup team. His best result was T-3rd at the RBC Heritage, two shots behind winner Aaron Baddeley. Finished the year 35th on the money list.
2007 Notes: Another good year of earnings, over $1.3 million. He finished 70th on the money list and 63rd in the FedExCup. Best finish was 3rd place at the Arnold Palmer, three shots behind the winner.
2008 Notes: After finishing T-8th at the Bob Hope, Taylor struggled and was in danger of not earning his Tour card for 2009. In the third-to-last event of the year, though, at the Ginn sur Mer Classic, he finished T-2nd just a shot behind the winner. Ended the year 132nd in the FedExCup and 98th on the money list, with earnings of just over $1 million.
2009 Notes: Was 132nd on the FedExCup list until finishing T-8th at the Buick Open in August. Two months later, he lost a playoff with Matt Kuchar at the Turning Stone Resort Championship. He finished the year 115th in the FedEx Cup race and 79th on the money list.
2010 Notes: For the seventh consecutive year, Taylor made over $1 million dollars in a season and, for the third consecutive year, posted a runner-up finish. He lost a playoff to Anthony Kim at the Shell Houston Open. Finished 35th in the FedExCup race and 42nd on the money list. His earnings total of $1,838,861 was his career-best at the time.
2011 Notes: Prior to a T-5th at the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament at the end of the year, Taylor did not record a top-10 finish for the first time on Tour. Made 17 of 27 cuts, but was only able to turn in two top-25 performances. They came early with T-25th finishes at the Bob Hope and Northern Trust. Was 116th in the FedExCup race and 148th on the money list.
2012 Notes: Finished 136th in the FedExCup standings, missing the FedExCup Playoffs for the first time since its inception in 2007. T-11th at the Travelers was his best finish. Was forced back to Q-School and finished T-43rd.
2013 Notes: Made nine of 16 cuts on the PGA Tour, with one top-10, T-10th at the Wells Fargo Championship. Finished 155th in the FedExCup standings. Played in all four Korn Ferry Tour Finals events, but placed 54th to just miss improving his status for the 2013-14 season.

2014 Notes: Played in 20 Korn Ferry Tour events, making 17 cuts. Had three top-10s and six top-25s. Finished the regular season 47th on the money list. Was in 2nd place, three shots back, after 36 holes of the third Korn Ferry Tour Finals� event, the Nationwide Children�s Hospital Championship. Posted 74-74 on the weekend and fell to T-10th, but the $26,000 check put him in position to secure one of the Finals� 25 available PGA Tour cards. Was in good position to claim that card at the season-ending Korn Ferry TourChampionship after opening with 69-70. Weekend rounds of 73-74 resulted in a T-61st finish, which pushed him three slots outside the 50th and final card-earning position.

2015 Notes: Missed just one cut in 12 starts on the PGA Tour and posted a pair of top-10s en route to a 151st finish in the FedExCup standings. After two top-15 finishes to begin the Korn Ferry Tour season (T-15th at the Panama Claro Championship and T-12th at the Colombia Championship), Taylor returned to the PGA Tour and finished T-10th at the AT&T Pebble Beach for his first top-10 since a T-10th at the 2013 Wells Fargo Championship. Also finished T-10th at the Barbasol Championship. Made three of four starts in the Korn Ferry Tour Finals, but finished 53rd on the money list.

2016 Notes: Played in 24 PGA Tour events making 13 cuts with one top-ten finish. Got into the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am as a past champion and took advantage of it to win the event by a shot over Phil Mickelson. Recorded his third PGA Tour victory in his 288th start at age 39 years, 11 months and 5 days. He went from 447th in the world rankings to 100th. His first wins were at the 2004 and 2005 Barracuda Championship. Since then his best finish was T-24th at the Deutsche Bank Championship. He ended the year 132nd in the Official World Golf Rankings.
2017 Notes: Played in 26 PGA tour events making 19 cuts. Didn't have any top-tens, but had seven top-25 finishes and was 114th on the FedExCup standings. Best finishes were T-12th at the Wells Fargo Championship and T-15th in the Safeway Open. In the FedExCup playoffs was T-43rd in the Northern Trust.
2018 Notes: Played in 25 PGA Tour events making 16 cuts with three top-ten finishes. Was 118th in the FedExCup standings. Was T-10th in the Sanderson Farms Championship. T-8th in the RSM Classic and T-9th in the Barracuda Championship. In the FedExCup Playoffs missed the cut at the Northern Trust.
2019 Notes: Played in 27 PGA Tour events making 20 cuts with four top-ten finishes. Was 49th in the FedExCup standings. Was T-7th at the Desert Classic. T-9th at the Genesis Open. 4th at the Travelers Championship, five shots back of winner Chez Reavie. T-6th at the John Deere Classic. In the FedExCup Playoffs was T-30th at the Northern Trust and T-16th at the BMW Championship.
2020 Notes: Was T-2nd at the Mayakoba Golf Classic, a shot back of winner Brendon Todd. The next week was T-10th at the RSM Classic.
