Wu Ashun

Wu finished tied 24th at the Asian Tour Qualifying School Finals in Malaysia at the end of 2007 to secure his playing rights for the 2008 season. He initially struggled to find his feet on Tour, missing numerous cuts early in the season but showed glimpses of his potential with top-20 finishes at the Hero Honda Indian Open and Macau Open. Much is expected from the young Chinese player in the future. In 2009, he started the year strongly with a tied seventh finish at the season-opening Asian Tour International in Bangkok and followed that up with a tied fourth outing in the Singha Thailand Open. He capped two top-20s in the Brunei Open and Macau Open and sealed his Tour card for the 2010 season with a commanding tied seventh place finish at the Mercuries Taiwan Masters. He was also part of the WGC-HSBC Champions in Shanghai where he finished tied 70th. His best finish on the Asian Tour is T-4th at the 2009 Singha Thailand Open.
He picked up golf when he was 17-years-old and made the decision to turn professional after playing the sport for about five years. When he is not playing golf, Wu counts playing basketball and computer games as his biggest hobbies. He represented his high school in basketball but dropped it as a career prospect as he felt he was too short to compete effectively. Learned the game from his brother, who is a single handicap golfer.
Wu has also played on the OneAsia Tour, finishing 19th on the 2011 Order of Merit.
Wu played on the Japan Golf Tour in 2010 and 2012. He won his first event in September 2012 at the Toshin Golf Tournament in Ryosen. He was the first golfer from China to win on the Japan Golf Tour.
