Yu Sang Hou, despite being an amateur, has enjoyed much success in professional events. Her debut in a professional tournament came at the RACV Ladies Masters in Australia, where she finished T-42nd. She would compete in six more professional events the rest of the season, but missed the cut at the ISPS Handa New Zealand Women?s Open, the Bing Jee Fujitsu NSW Women?s Open and the CTBC Ladies Open. She did, however, make the cut in three events, two of them being LPGA championships. She finished 76th at the LPGA KEB HanaBank Championship and T-74th at the Swinging Skirts LPGA Championship. Her best performance came at the TLPGA Open, an LPGA Tour of Chinese Taipei event, finishing T-13th.
This year, in 2016, she has made appearances in three professional events, two on the LPGA Tour. She missed the cut at both of them, at the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic Presented by CTBC and the ISPS Handa Australian Women?s Open. She was the low amateur, however, at the Oates Victorian Open, finishing 4th and posting a tournament-low 67 in the final round.
In amateur competition, Hou qualified for the 2015 U.S. Girls? Junior (her 14 year old sister Yu Chiang was in the championship) and advanced to the round of 32. She won the Tasmanian Junior Masters in Australia. She finished T-28th at the Rolex Girls Junior Championship. She finished 3rd at the FCG International Junior Championship and T-33rd at the IMG Academy Junior World Championship.
This year she reached the round of 16 in the Australian Women?s Amateur, finished 3rd at the Victoria Junior Masters in Australia and 2nd at the Faldo Series Asia Grand Final.
