Caroline Masson

She started playing golf at age six and attended Oklahoma State University for a year. Masson is the daughter of Stefan and Gabriele Masson. Her father is a tennis coach in Germany, and she has one brother, Alex. Says she would really like to learn how to play the guitar. Her biggest star-struck moment is when she met German soccer legend Franz Beckenbauer.
She turned professional in December 2009, then won the Ladies European Tour's Final Qualifying School at La Manga Club in Murcia, Spain.
In 2010, her rookie year on the LET, Caroline recorded four top-10 finishes, including a career-best T-3rd at the Open de France Feminine. She finished 26th on the Money List with season's earnings of euro 81,180.25 ($107,435.78) from 16 tournaments.
In 2011, she recorded seven top-10 finishes, including a career-best T-2nd at the Lalla Meryem Cup at Golf du Soleil in Agadir, Morocco. Also had a T-4th at the UniCredit Ladies German Open and T-5th at the Ricoh Women's British Open at Carnoustie, where she led the tournament after the second and third rounds. Was injured late in the season but finished 7th on the money list with season earnings of euro 167,187.46 ($221,282.01) from 16 events.
In 2012, her third season on the LET, Masson finished 2nd on the money list behind Carlota Ciganda of Spain with season earnings of euro 241,831.15 ($320,178.14). Masson got her first win at the South African Women's Open at Selborne Park Golf Club. She posted six further top-10 finishes, including four second-place finishes.
In her rookie season playing on the LPGA Tour in 2013, she made 14 cuts and finished 48th on the Tour money list. She also had two top-10 finishes, including a season-best 5th-place effort at the Safeway Classic presented by Coca-Cola. Also played in seven LET events, finishing 3rd in the ISPA HANDA Ladies European Masters. Competed on her first European Solheim Cup Team, posting a 2-1-1 record. Finished 2nd in the 2013 Rookie of the Year race, falling just one point behind winner Moriya Jutanugarn.
2014 Notes: She was 28th on the LPGA money list with $569,916 and 43rd in CME Points. She made 23 cuts in 28 starts and had three top 10s, including a runner-up finish at the Blue Bay LPGA, three shots back of winner Lee-Anne Pace. It was Masson's first runner-up finish on the LPGA Tour. She played in five LET events and twice finished 3rd.
2015 Notes: Finished 61st on the LPGA money list, making 20 cuts in 29 starts, with the best finish of T-6th at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational. Played on her second European Solheim Cup team as a captain's pick; went 0-2-1 at St. Leon Rot in her homeland of Germany. Played in five LET events and finished T-4th twice.
2016 Notes: Played in 30 LPGA events making 23 cuts and 4 top-tens. She was T-21st at the Rio Olympics as a member of Germany's golf team. Less than one month after the Olympics, Masson won the Manulife LPGA Classic. She rebounded from an opening double bogey Sunday to make nine birdies in a 5-under 67, and finish at 16-under 272 to beat Mi Hyang Lee, Minjee Lee, and Karine Icher by a shot. She was showered in beer, instead of the usual champagne, on the 18th green after her victory. "I think they picked beer because I'm German," Masson said. "They figured I could take it." Was 26th on the money list with $635,223 and 44th in CME points. She played in 4 LET events, best finish was T-14th at the Handa Australian Women's Open
2017 Notes: Played in 27 LPGA events making 21 cuts. Had 3 top-10 finishes, including a season-best T-3rd at the Ricoh Women's British Open, her career-best finish in a major, crossing the $2 million mark in career earnings in the process. Also, T-9th at the Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open and T-10th at the Bank of Hope Founders Cup. Was named to the European Solheim Cup for a third time as a captain's pick by Annika Sorenstam and was 1-3-0 in the matches, her only win coming over Michelle Wie in singles, 4 and 2.
2018 Notes: Played in 26 LPGA Tour events making 24 cuts with five top-ten finishes. T-7th at the LPGA Mediheal Championship and Kingsmill Championship. She was runner-up at the Meijer Classic, 2 shots back of winner So Yeon Ryu. She was 34th on the money list with $621,429 and was 30th in the Race to CME. She was T-2nd at the Estrella Damm Ladies Open on the LET, 8 shots back of winner Anne Van Dam.
2019 Notes: Played in 25 LPGA Tour events making 23 cuts, she had four top-ten finishes. Finished 29th on the money list with $715,544 in earnings, and was 28th on the CME points list She got engaged to Jason McDede on Jan. 31. She was T-11th at the Pure Silk Championship. Was T-5th at the Marathon Classic, T-7th at the CP Women's Open, and T-9th at the Indy Women in Tech Championship. Masson was T-2nd at the Swinging Skirts Championship, losing in a playoff to Nelly Korda, who birdied the first playoff hole. On the bag for Korda was Jason McDede, Masson's fiance. Played on the Solheim Cup for the fourth time and was 0-2-1, losing to Jessica Korda 3 & 2 in the singles match.
2020 Notes: Played in 14 LPGA Tour events making 11 cuts with two top-tens. Finished 38th on the money list with $299,845 in earnings, she was 33rd on the CME points list. Was T-7th at the AIG Women's Open and T-5th at the Cambia Portland Classic, two shots back of the Georgia Hall/Ashleigh Buhal playoff.
2021 Notes: Played in 22 LPGA Tour events making 15 cuts with three top-ten finishes. Was 41st on the money list with $512,855 in earnings and was 45th on the CME points list. Was T-9th at the Honda LPGA Thailand and T-5th at the Marathon Classic. She was T-40th at the Toyko Olympics as a member of Germany's women's golf team. Best finish was 2nd at the Cognizant Founders Cup where she shot a 64 in the final round to finish four behind winner Jin Young Ko.
2022 Notes: Best finish a T-9th at the Bank of Hope LPGA Match Play, where she lost in the first knockout round.
