Karen Stupples

Started playing golf at the age of 11. Represented Great Britain and Ireland in the 1996 and 1998 Curtis Cup Matches. Also represented England Juniors from 1989-91 and England Seniors from 1995-98. Played collegiate golf at Florida State University, winning two events and being named a Second-Team All-American selection in 1995. Gave birth to son, Logan James, in 2007.
In 1998, turned professional following the U.S. Women's Amateur. Despite being a professional, she returned home to England and became a cloakroom attendant for the Port of Dover and a waitress at a public golf course in Kent as she did not have the money to take a run at LPGA Qualifying School. When a regular restaurant customer offered to sponsor her for three years, she and her husband sold their house, furniture and car and moved to the United States where she earned non-exempt status on the LPGA Tour by tying for 52nd at the 1998 Final Qualifying Tournament.
In 1999, best finish was a tie for eighth at the State Farm Rail Classic. Returned to the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament, where she tied for 17th to earn exempt status for the 2000 LPGA season.
In 2000 played in 26 events, best finish was seventh place at the Kathy Ireland Greens.com LPGA Classic.
In 2001 played in 23 events, recorded a season-best tie for ninth at the ShopRite LPGA Classic.
In 2002 played in 23 events, best finish was a tie for third at the Safeway Classic.
In 2003 played in 25 events, best finish was fourth place at the State Farm Classic.
In 2004 played in 25 events, became a first-time winner at the Welch's/Fry's Championship, where she recorded a career-low 63 during both the first and last rounds to set an LPGA record for lowest four-day raw score total at 258 (-22). Won the Weetabix Women's British Open, where she became only the second player in history to record a double-eagle at an LPGA major championship, began the final round with an eagle, double-eagle on the first two holes. Crossed the $1 million mark in career earnings at the U.S. Women's Open.
In 2005 played in 23 events, had a season-best tie for 10th at the U.S. Women's Open, tied for 11th at the Weetabix Women's British Open. Was a member of the European Solheim Cup Team.
In 2006 played in 22 events, best finish was fourth place at the SBS Open at Turtle Bay, where she crossed the $2 million mark in career earnings; tied for 10th at the Weetabix Women's British Open.
In 2007, only played 7 events due to the birth of her son Logan James in April; best finish was a tie for 10th at The Mitchell Company LPGA Tournament of Champions.
In 2008 played in 26 events, best finish was a tie for second at the Michelob ULTRA Open at Kingsmill.
In 2009, best finish was a tie for 15th at the Honda LPGA Thailand. Won the Wales Ladies Championship of Europe on the Ladies European Tour - her first win since 2004.
In 2010, best finish was a tie for fifth at the Kraft Nabisco Championship. Played in three events on the LET. Her best finish, 5th coming in the S4C Wales Championship where she was defending her title. She finished 69th on the Money List with season earnings of ?26,969.53.
In 2011, played in 22 events, had two top-10 finishes including a tie for fourth at the Navistar LPGA Classic and a tie for ninth at the Avnet LPGA Classic. Competed on her second European Solheim Cup Team with a 1-2-0 record. Played in five events on the LET. She recorded a best-season finish of tied for 10th at the ISPS Handa Women's Australian Open.
In 2012, played in 21 events, 12 cuts made, $116,909 (73). Had one top-10 finish, recorded a season-best tied for 10th at the LPGA Lotte Championship.
