Mao Saigo

Saigo was born in Funabashi, Greater Tokyo, and won the 2019 Japan Women's Amateur Championship. She turned professional and joined the LPGA of Japan Tour in 2020.
2020/21 Notes: Played in 50 Japan LPGA events over the two years, making 39 cuts with 22 Top-ten finishes. She was runner-up seven times. She was 4th on the money list with earnings of Yen178,997,891 (US$1,317,692).
2022 Notes: Played in 25 JLPGA events, making 20 cuts with 12 top-ten finishes. She won Yen130,059,607 ($911,803), which was 5th on the money list. She won five times: Daikin Orchid Ladies Golf Tournament, AXA Ladies Golf Tournament in Miyazaki, Yamaha Ladies Open Katsuragi, Panasonic Open Ladies Golf Tournament, and Bridgestone Ladies Open. Played in five LPGA events and shot a final round 64 at the Amundi Evian Championship to finish T-3rd, two shots back of winner Brooks Henderson.
2023 Notes: Played in 23 JLPGA events, making 18 cuts with 8 top-ten finishes. She won Yen67,754,742 ($461,941), 18th on the money list, and won the Itoen Ladies Golf Tournament. Played in seven LPGAs, best finish T-33rd at the U.S. Women's Open and earned her LPGA card for 2024 by finishing T-2nd in the finals of the LPGA Q Series.
2024 Notes: Played in 29 LPGA events, making 24 cuts with seven top-10 finishes. She was 9th in the CME rankings and 16th on the money list, earning $1,618,202. She played in the opening event on the JLPGA and finished 2nd at the Daikin Orchid tournament, two shots back of the winner Chisato Iwai. On the LPGA, she was T-7th at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship and T-8th at the Dow Championship with partner Yu Jin Sung. Shot a third-round 61 and finished 2nd, two shots back of the winner, Lauren Coughlin at the CPKC Women's Open. She was T-4th at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship and was T-2nd at the Buick LPGA Shanghai, six back of winner Ruoning Yin. She ended her season finishing T-25th at the CME Group Tour Championship. Saigo was the LPGA Louise Suggs Rookie of the Year, beating Jin Hee Im in a close season-long race.
2025 Notes: Was T-5th at the Blue Bay LPGA and T-9th at the T-Mobile Match Play. She won the Chevron Championship for her first victory on the LPGA Tour and became the first player from Japan to win the Chevron. Saigo shot a final-round 74, but held on to win in a playoff over four other players. Saigo made a three-foot birdie putt on the first extra hole to win. Was T-4th at the U.S. Women's Open and T-5th at the ShopRite LPGA Classic.
