Rosie Jones

Started playing golf at the age of 11. Earlier in her amateur career, Jones won the New Mexico Junior Championship three consecutive years, 1974-76, and claimed the 1979 New Mexico State Championship title. Jones was a 1981 AIAW All-American in her fourth year of varsity golf at The Ohio State University. Also in 1981, she was the third-lowest amateur at the U.S. Women's Open and a semifinalist at both the U.S. Women's Amateur and the Trans-National.
After finishing college, she turned pro in 1982 and finished T7 at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament in July, letting her start playing on the LPGA Tour. She played through 2006 when injuries forced her to retire. In her 25-year career, she played in 571 events, making 513 cuts. She had 188 top-ten finishes (33% of her starts) and won 13 times. Her best year on tour was 1988 she won three times (USX Golf Classic, Nestle World Championship & Santa Barbara Open), was runner-up once and third three times. She earned $323,393 which placed her third on the money list. Her best financial year was 2003, where she won once (Asahi Ryokuken International) and had nine top-ten finishes. She won $810,276 which placed her 10th on the money list. For her career, she won $8,355,068 which presently is 25th on the all-time LPGA career money list. She was in the top-ten nine times in yearly earnings. She placed second in a major tournament four times (1984 U.S. Open; 1991 LPGA Championship; 2000 du Maurier Classic; 2005 Kraft Nabisco Championship) but never won a major tournament. She also played for the United States in the Solheim Cup seven times (1990, '96, '98, 2000, '02, '03 & '05) earning 12 points with an 11-9-2 record. Jones was the captain of the U.S. Team at the 2011 Solheim Cup but the team lost in Ireland 15 to 13.
Jones played her last LPGA event at the 2006 U.S. Women's Open. Jones marked her retirement from full-time competition by taking off her golf shoes and golf glove and leaving them beside the 18th at Newport Country Club. She did play two more times, missing the cut at the 2008 LPGA Corning Classic and the 2009 U.S. Women's Open. Was a member of the LPGA Player Executive Committee from 2000-03, serving as co-vice president in 2003.
In retirement, Jones worked as a commentator for The Golf Channel and in 2006 started a company called Rosie Jones Golf Getaways. Jones also started RBA Golf LLC which develops and operates a charity, fundraising, and corporate outings.
Jones played on the Legends Tour and won seven times: 2007 Wendy's Charity Challenge, Legends Tour Open Championship; 2009 Kinoshita Pearl Classic; 2010 ISPS Legends Tour Open Championship; 2012 Walgreens Charity Classic; 2013 Harris Golf Classic and the 2014 Wendy's Charity Challenge. Jones was the Legends Tour Board of Director 2013 -2017, Legends Tour President 2015, 2016.
Jones played in the 2018 Senior LPGA Championship and finished T7.

Jones shot 77-73-71-76=297 (+5) to finish T8 in the inaugural U.S. Senior Women's Open.
