Charley Hoffman

Hoffman was born in San Diego, Calif., and began playing golf at age 7 with friend Bill Lunde's grandfather. Competed in San Diego Junior Golf Association with fellow PGA Tour player Pat Perez. He won the California State High School Championship in 1994 and '95, becoming the first two-time winner. He qualified three times for the Buick Invitational as an amateur. In college, Hoffman was a member of the 1998 NCAA Championship team at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. While at UNLV, his teammates included Chris Riley, Chad Campbell, Bill Lunde and Adam Scott. He graduated in 2000 with a degree in communications.
Member of the winning 1998 NCAA Championship team at UNLV. Honorable Mention All-American in 1998. Turned professional in summer of 2000 after helping the United States win the Walker Cup in August. Member of the Web.com Tour in 2000, '01 and 2004, '05.
Made the PGA Tour after finishing 19th on the 2005 Web.com Tour money list. In the first start of his second season on the PGA Tour (2007), he earned his first victory in 41st career start (36th as a professional) at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic at age 30 years and 25 days. Posted rounds of 66-70-68-68-71 - 343 and defeated John Rollins with a birdie on the first playoff hole.
Enjoyed his best season on the PGA Tour in 2010, cracking the top-30 on the money list for the first time and finishing 4th in the FedExCup rankings by virtue of his victory in a playoff event, the Deutsche Bank Championship.
Enjoys snow skiing, jet-skiing and barbecuing.

2010 Notes: Finished the season fourth in the FedExCup standings, highlighted by a PGA Tour Playoff victory at the Deutsche Bank Championship. Entered the final round four shots behind Jason Day, and staged the largest come-from-behind victory in the tournament's history. His first top-10 finish in 11 PGA Tour Playoffs events secured a spot for the first time at the Tour Championship, where he finished 6th.
2011 Notes: Following a career-best season, made cuts in 27 starts and finished 41st in the FedExCup standings. Since 2006, had made over $1 million dollars in five of six years.
2012 Notes: Finished the year 69th in the FedExCup standings and in earnings. His best finish was T-2nd at the Travelers Championship.
2013 Notes: Made 19 of 23 cuts on Tour, with five top-10s. Best finish was a T-3rd at the Valero Texas Open. Finished No. 61 in the FedExCup standings and 57th in the money totals.
2014 Notes: Started strong with a 4th-place finish at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. Tacked on four more top-10s, the best being his T-3rd at the Quicken Loans National, which secured an exemption for the British Open. For the eighth consecutive year, played his way into the FedExCup Playoffs, making it through the first three events. Finished 53rd in the final FedExCup standings and 46th on the money list.
2015 Notes: At the OHL Classic at Mayakoba, Hoffman overcame a three-stroke deficit in the final round to post a five-under 66 and claim a one-stroke win over Shawn Stefani. Earned his third career PGA Tour victory at age 37 years, 10 months, 20 days in his 256th career PGA Tour start. Also ended a winless drought of 109 starts since winning the 2010 Deutsche Bank Championship. Finished T-2nd at the Humana Challenge on the strength of a final-round 64. Was T-9th at the Masters and runner-up at the AT&T Byron Nelson. After missing the cut at the U.S. Open, he flew to Japan and finished T-30th at the Japan Golf Tour's Handa Global Cup. Was T-7th at the RBC Canadian Open. Played in all four FedExCup Playoffs, and finished 3rd at the Deutsche Bank. Ended the year 10th in the FedExCup standings and 11th on the money list.
2016 Notes: Made a nine-foot birdie putt at the 72nd hole of the Valero Texas Open to edge Patrick Reed by one shot and claim the victory with a 12-under 276. He played in the same group with Reed, who had birdied the 72nd hole to tie Hoffman at 11-under. The win was his first top-10 of the year. In February, was elected co-chairman of the PGA Tour Player Advisory Council along with Kevin Streelman for the rest of the year. Hoffman has served as a Player Director, from 2017 through '19. For the year, he played in 26 events and had one top-10. Was fourth in the FedExCup standings and 41st on the money list. Ended his year teaming with Billy Horschel to finish 3rd at the Franklin Templeton Shootout.
2017 Notes: Finished T-4th at the Genesis Open and T-2nd at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, one shot behind winner Marc Leishman. Shot an opening-round 65 to lead the Masters after the first day, but finished with rounds of 75-73-78 to finish T-22nd. Played well at the U.S. Open, finishing T-8th. The next week, finished T-3rd at the Travelers Championship, two shots behind the Jordan Spieth/Daniel Berger playoff. Reached a playoff at the RBC Canadian Open, but lost on the first extra hole to Jhonattan Vegas. In his next start at the WGC-Bridgestone, he finished 3rd, six shots behind winner Hideki Matsuyama. Made it for the 11th straight year to the FedExCup Playoffs, played in all four events, and ranked 20th in the final FedExCup standings. Finished the year second at the Hero World Challenge.
2018 Notes: Played 25 PGA Tour events, making 19 cuts, but for the first time in his PGA Tour career didn't have a top-10 result. Finished 79th in the FedExCup standings. The best result was T-12th at the Masters. One of his problems was not being able to put together four good rounds. In 2017, he was able to shoot under par in eight events, but in 2018, he was only able to play under par twice.
2019 Notes: Played in 24 PGA Tour events, making 13 cuts and two top-ten finishes. Was 77th on the FedExCup points list. With rounds of 71-68-64-67 finished 2nd at the Valero Texas Open, 2 shots back of winner Corey Conners. This was Hoffman's first top-ten on the PGA Tour since the 2017 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational when he finished 3rd. In the FedExCup playoffs was T-77th at the Northern Trust.
2020 Notes: Played in 20 PGA Tour events making 11 cuts with two top-ten finishes. Was 77th on the FedExCup points list. Was T-9th at the Farmers Insurance Open. T-7th at the Workday Charity Open. In the FedExCup playoffs was T-13th at the Northern Trust.
2021 Notes: In his first start of the season held a share of the 18-hole lead at the Sanderson Farms Championship en route to a T-6th finish. Was T-7th at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-am and then T-10th at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. After opening with a 3-over 75, he carded rounds of 66-65-66 to record his second consecutive 2nd place finish at the Valero Texas Open (2019/2nd) He was two shots back of winner Jordan Spieth. Shot a final-round 65 to finish T-3rd at the Charles Schwab Challenge, 4 shots back of winner Jason Kokrak.
