Chris Stroud

Got his start at the age of five through father, Jimmy. One of four children (three sisters). Captured the 2003 North and South Amateur. Two-time All-American selection and four-time Southland Conference Player of the Year at Lamar University. T-3rd 2003 NCAA Men's Golf Championships. In 2005, finished 96th on Web.Com Tour money list. Also competed on the Hooters and Tight Lies Tour since turning professional in 2004. Finished 18th on the 2006 Hooters Tour money list on the strength of two runner-up finishes.
2006 Web.Com Tour Summary: Tournaments entered - 9; in money - 4; top-10 finishes - 2; stroke average 70.81 (ranked N/A); money $53,919 (ranked 96th); best finish T-5th, BMW Charity Pro-Am at the Cliffs. Finished T-16 at Q-School, going through all three stages to get his PGA Tour card for 2007...Finished 133rd on the money list in 2007, went back to Q-School and finished third...Finished 155th on the money list in 2008 forcing him back to Q-School which he safely got through, finishing T4th...After having to earn his tour card through Q-School the two previous years, finished in the top 125 with a 113th place finish in the standings in 2009, thanks in part to finishing T-8th in the Frys.com Open.
2010 Notes: Finished T-10th at The Players Championship in his first career start at TPC Sawgrass for first top 10 of the season. Finished T-5th at the Viking Classic on the strength of a second round 65. Was 125th on the money list coming into the Viking Classic and moved to 111th to secure Tour card for 2011. Finished T-7th at the Children's Miracle Network Classic after holding the first-round lead with a 10-under 62.
2011 Notes: Had career-bests with eight top-25 finishes, a 61st-place performance in the FedExCup and an 85th-place showing on the money list.
2012 Notes: In his sixth start of the season, picked up a top-five finish at the Mayakoba Golf Classic for the second year in a row. Had a chance to join the John Huh-Robert Allenby playoff with a birdie on the 18th hole but double-bogeyed the par-4 to finish T-5th a year after finishing fourth. A week later, kept the momentum going at PGA National, where he finished T-9th. His back to back top-tens were his only ones for the year as he finished 110th in the FedEx Cup standings and 105th on the money list with earnings of $903,570.
2013 Notes: After a slow start finished T-6th at the RBC Heritage. Had another top-ten with a T-7th at the Crowne Plaza Colonial. Then lost a playoff to Ken Duke at the Travelers Championship, got into the playoff with a 50-foot birdie on the 72nd hole. His next top-ten, T-9th, was at the Sanderson Farms Championship. Finished the year 43rd in the FedEx Cup race and 55th in the money race.
2014 Notes: Played in 25 PGA Tour events making 19 cuts with 4, top-ten finishes. Started quickly with his best finishes, T-3rd at the CIMB Classic and OHL Classic at Mayakoba. Added two more top-tens including a T-4th at the Greenbrier Classic and T-9th at Puerto Rico. Finished the year 47th in the FedExCup race and 53rd on the money list. Ended his year with his first start in Asia, playing at the Japan Golf Tour's Dunlop Phoenix in November 2014, opened with a 4-under 67 and closed with a 5-under 66 to finish solo eighth, five shots out of the Hideki Matsuyama-Hiroshi Iwata playoff that Matsuyama won
2015 Notes: Played in 28 PGA Tour events making 14 cuts with 2, top-ten finishes. Best finish was T-5th at the John Deere Classic, his other top-ten was T-10th at the Travelers Championship. Finished 116th in the FedExCup standings and 126th in the money race. Had his best finish of the year in his European Tour debut at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland, finished T-2nd, 2 shots back of winner Thorbjorn Olesen.
2016 Notes: Played in 27 PGA Tour events making 16 cuts with one top-ten finish, T-10th at the Frys.com Open. Saw streak of five consecutive seasons advancing to the FedExCup Playoffs come to an end as he finished 134th. Went to the Web.Com finals but only made one cut finishing T-62nd in the Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship.
2017 Notes: Played in 22 PGA Tour events making 11 cuts with 3 top-ten finishes. Was T-8th at the Puerto Rico Open. In his 290th start on the PGA Tour won for the first time at the Barracuda Championship, beating Greg Owen and Richy Werenski in a playoff. Said afterward that he was right on the edge of putting the clubs away forever before the start of 2018, just wanted to spend more time with his family. The victory got him a last-minute invitation to the PGA Championship were he finished T-9th. Went on to finish 84th in the FedExCup rankings. Stroud also had another major transformation when Hurricane Harvey devastated Houston, as a Houston resident he dedicated himself to rebuilding his community. At the end of the year, Stroud organized a pro-am to benefit those impacted by Harvey along with 25 other professionals and raised over $1 million
2018 Notes: Season has been a struggle due to a knee injury. Was T-11th at the Sentry Tournament of Champions, it would be his best and only top-25 finish until he finished T-7th at the Barracuda Championship.
