Greg Owen

Was ranked as the No.1 tennis player in Nottinghamshire at age 13. His wife, Jacqui, was a nationally ranked gymnast. First started playing on the European Tour in 1996 and played on that tour through 2005. Has played a total of 203 events in on that tour, making 126 cuts, and finished in the top-ten 27 times with a win at the 2003 British Masters. Unfortunely he had a serious back injury which caused many problems. He had surgery on a bulging disc in his back which kept him out of action for three months.
On the PGA Tour playing off and on between 2005 and 2017 he played in 266 events, making 143 cuts with 15 top ten finishes. He was runner-up four times and won $8,277,386.
Played i 63 Korn Ferry Tour events, making 42 cuts with 13 top ten finsihes. He had one win at the 2014 United Leasing Championship. He had career earnings of $723,310.
At the end of 2004, made it through all three stages of PGA Tour Q-School, finishing T4th in the final stage. Next year as a rookie on that tour finished 57th in the money race with earnings of $1.3 million. Next year, he finished 69th but stumbled in 2007 with earnings of only 426,601, which ranked 157th. Adding to his problem, he finished 62nd in Q-School, which meant spending 2008 on the Korn Ferry Tour. In 17 events, he finished in the top ten seven times, and his earnings of $309,805 got him the tenth spot and a return to the PGA Tour. Finished 109th in 2009 on the money list but again stumbled in 2010 finishing 183rd. Again, a poor finish in Q-School meant that he spent 2011 on the Korn Ferry Tour. This time wasn't that good in 23 starts only had two top-10s and won only $121,259 which ranked 52nd on that money list. This time finished T18th at Q-School regaining his card for 2012.
2012 Notes: With 27 starts he had three top-10s and an 88th-place finish on the final FedExCup points list and 85th on the money list. He was T-9th at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am in February for his first top-10 of the season. Added another T-9th at the Memorial Tournament on the strength of a final-round 67. Had another strong final round a week later, at the FedEx St. Jude Classic, when he fired a Sunday 65 to finish T-11th. Final top-10 of the campaign came at The McGladrey Classic in October. Opened with a 64 at Sea Island and closed with a 65 at The Seaside Course for a T-7th, his best finish on tour.
2013 Notes: He made 13 of 24 PGA Tour cuts, with no top-10s. He finished 134th in the FedExCup standings. His best of four top-25 finishes was a T-12th at the RBC Canadian Open. He played in all four Korn Ferry Tour Finals events, finishing 52nd and failing to improve his status for 2013-14.
Best finish of the four was T-8th at the Chiquita Classic despite having a bad weekend and finishing just four back of the winner.

2014 Korn Ferry Tour Summary: tournaments entered - 12; in money - 7; top-10 finishes - 3; scoring average - 70.18 (ranked 38th); money - $143,631 (ranked 27th); best finish - won the United Leasing Championship.
Came ever so close to securing one of the first 25 PGA Tour cards at the Season-ending WinCo Foods Portland Open. After making the cut on the number with a birdie on the 36th hole, he put himself inside the top 25 on Saturday with a 65, only to fall to No. 27 at the weekend's end with a final-round 74 and T36 finish. Rounds of 67-67-68-70 at the first Korn Ferry Tour Finals event, the Hotel Fitness Championship, resulted in a third-place finish. Was one shot off Colt Knost's lead after three rounds but couldn't maintain the final-round pace of winner Bud Cauley's 65 and runner-up Knost's 68. A check for $68,000 secured his return to the PGA Tour for 2015.
In 2015 held a share of the 18- and 54-hole leads at the FedEx St. Jude Classic before a final-round, even-par 70 resulted in a 2nd place finish as he made his quest to win his first Tour title. Ended four shots behind winner Fabian Gomez. Two starts later, over the Independence Day weekend, opened with a 5-under 65 at the Greenbrier Classic en route to a T-6th with six others at 11-under 269, two shots from getting into the playoff.
2016 Notes: Played in 29 PGA Tour events making 14 cuts with one top ten. Was 150th in the FedExCup and 154th on the money lisut with earnings of $484,955. His sole top ten was T-5th at the Sony Open in Hawaii, five shots back of the Fabian Gomez/Brandt Snedeker playoff.
2017 Notes: Played in 17 PGA Tour events making 7 cuts with two top ten finishes. Wasw 142nd on the FedExCup standings and 134th on the money list with earnings of $738,711. In the first event of the season was T-2nd, four shots back of winner Cody Gribble. Had his second runner-up finish at the Barracuda Championship losing to Chris Stroud in a playoff. Issues with his back were a mainstay throughout his years on the PGA Tour and Korn Ferry Tour, but it wasn?t until 2017 that he fully came to terms with another issue that had potentially hampered his career. Even with two runner-up finishes in 2017 he still lost his PGA Tour card. It was the first year that money wasn't counted and it was just FedExCup points and the two events he was runner-up finished had low FedExCup points. He was feeling the stress of not being with his family and the back was still a problem. He crepted into a terrible stage of depression and decided to take time off. He went to see a specialist, Tiger?s surgeon, who did some tests and concluded I needed surgery. So he underswent more spinal surgery in 2019, where they did a fusion and put two artificial discs in his lower bank. On top of that he went through a divorce when he reached the age of 50. After six years of non play, he teed it up for the first time at the 2022 Senior Open Championship at Gleneagles in Scotland. He made the cut and finished T-53rd. He played again on the European Tour Legend tour finishing T-15th at the Legends Tour JCB Championship. Unfortunely on the flight home he suffered two blood clots which halted his golf again.
2023 Notes: Despite the setback, Owen made a full recovery and was back on course again in June at the Jersey Legends finishing T-45th. After that played five more events on Europe?s over 50s Tour, posting four top tens, including a runner-up finish at the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship, one of the highest tiered events on the Legends Tour International Schedule outside of the Senior Majors. At the end of the year decided to make a run on the PGA Toru Champions Tour but didn't make it out of the 1st stage of qualifying.
